Mexican rescue workers saved a stranded Labrador from the flood waters brought on by Hurricane Eta on November 13. They found the dog while looking for people who had been stranded by the storm.

The hurricane devastated communities in South and Central America, leaving thousands in Mexico without homes. Indigenous communities in Honduras, Nicaragua, and Guatemala were hit particularly hard. More than 200 people have reportedly died. The region is now preparing for Hurricane Iota, a possible Category 5 storm expected to make landfall the night of November 16.

HAPPY SENIOR SUNDAY!

Every sunday in November, we'll be featuring one of our amazing senior dogs who are up for fostering and/or adoption! This week, we're showing off our angelic girl: Heaven!

This stunning silver girl is nothing but love, cuddles, and relaxing in the sun. She enjoys her human companions of all ages, and is deeply loyal. She will wait for you to come home, and be the first to greet you in the mornings. She's a great listener, and loves to simply be around her people. Heaven enjoys a few rounds of fetch in the cool mornings before her post-lunch beauty nap. If you want a teddybear with puppy eyes, Heaven is your girl! Check out her page to adopt and/or foster her here. (https://www.fureverproject.org/animals/detail?AnimalID=16098727)

TO BE KILLED 11/21/2020

HANDSOME BIG BOY ROSCOE CAN’T CATCH A BREAK! Returned for the 4th time, entering the ACC system as a puppy, failed by humans again and again. It is obvious that Roscoe has had a rough start in life. Fearful of strangers, he can be growly which is his way of telling humans he doesn’t want to be touched by STRANGERS. But he still TRUSTS people and will warm up in time. This beautiful big boy just needs an experienced home where he will be loved and can feel safe. Please advocate for Roscoe to help him.

EMERGENCY RESCUE! This purr-fectly splendid cat and her sister were dumped--in ONE carrier--at a shelter in WV. They were scheduled for...(I can't even bring myself to type it) when a VERY Good Samaritan went in and rescued them. HSLC scooped up this pregnant mamma (Her sister, even more pregnant, went to a great rescue we partner with. See her babies in the comments!)

This sweet, sweet kitty is now safe and sound with our amazing foster liaison who is hoping you will find a suitable name for her. Please leave your suggestion in the comments and send this mamma all the support you can so she can safely deliver and care for her kittens. #fosteringsaveslives

Thanks to our generous and caring donors, HSLC is able to cover the medical expenses for this family-to-be. Please give them the BEST chance they have in life by making a donation today! Thank you. https://donatenow.networkforgood.org/humaneloudoun
