Loudoun County Animal Services

Yay!

After many years of hard work from so many dedicated people, we are breaking ground on our new Animal Services facility in Leesburg. We are thrilled to share this event with our supporters and friends, and we hope you can join us at 10am on May 30th at the site. Bring your galoshes if this rain keeps up, but, no matter the weather, the show will go on! If you are not able to attend, don’t worry, we still plan on having a ribbon-cutting celebration when the facility opens in about a year. This event is open to the public, so feel free to bring friends, family, and fellow animal lovers.

Thank you for all of your support over the years, and we hope you can join us for the opening of this next chapter.

Easter Lily Poisoning in Cats

Please be aware that many types of lilies found in floral arrangements, including Easter lilies, are very toxic to cats. Even the water from the vase can kill a cat! Please spread the word! You might save a cat.

Personally, this is my most hated type of poisoning, as my sister’s cat died from lily poisoning years ago. So my mission? To spread the word so all pet owners are aware of this horrible, dangerous poison!

To echo or not to echo? Incidentally detected heart murmurs in dogs and cats • MSPCA-Angell

In honor of Valentines Day, here is some information for veterinarians about when it would be best to consider an echocardiogram. If you determine that your patient needs an echocardiogram, I can do this in your office and have it overread by a cardiologist. Convenient for your clients and a very reasonable price.
