Congratulations and Welcome to Lieutenant General Retired Omar Jones IV ’92 for his election as the President of the West Point Society of Washington DC.
He last served as the commanding general of the United States Army Installation Management Command from 2022 to 2025. Prior to that role, he commanded the United States Army Military District of Washington and Joint Task Force – National Capital Region from 2019 to 2021. Commissioned in the infantry after graduation, he commanded infantry and cavalry units, and held senior public affairs roles. His 33-year career included deployments to Panama, Bosnia, Iraq, and Afghanistan.
As a cadet, he served as First Captain for his class, graduating in 1992 with a B.S. degree in operations research. LTG (R) Jones later earned a Master of Public Administration degree from Harvard University and a master's degree in national security strategy from the National War College
A native of Baltimore Maryland, he married his high school classmate Tracey Jones at West Point one day after his graduation in 1992. They have three sons, two of whom have also graduated from West Point and are currently serving in our Army today as Captains.
LTG (R) Dave Halverson and LTG Omar Jones will begin their transition of the Society leadership during the next few months. Afterwards, we look forward to many Founders Day, luncheons, celebrations, and other events in the future with LTG (R) Jones leading our Society.
Beat Navy Sir!
