Lone Star Dog Ranch & Dog Ranch Rescue

Lone Star Dog Ranch & Dog Ranch Rescue The Lone Star Dog Ranch is a one of a kind cage free boarding facility 30 minutes north of Dallas in Anna, Texas. The rescue's website is dogranchrescue.com

Here dogs are free to play, swim, sleep, and be loved as they wish, all day. There are many things about Lone Star Dog Ranch that make it
unique and better than any other daycare or boarding facility. We are truly one of a kind. We are a completely social facility. The only time your dog will be confined is for meals and sleep. The rest of their time is theirs to enjoy themselves while you are awa

y enjoying yourself. Dogs are free to swim, play with other dogs, lay under a shade tree, sleep on the couch in the air conditioning or go back to bed and be alone if they want. They can choose to go inside the ranch building or outside anytime they want. We are an all inclusive facility. We don’t charge any extra for playtime, extra hugs, one on one time, swimming, laptime, special food, medication or any other special requirement. Everything is included in the boarding and day care rates. All dogs that stay with us must pass our evaluation to ensure that they can get along with everyone. For this reason we also require that all dogs be spayed or neutered

Lone Star Dog Ranch is family owned and operated and all of us live on the property. The dogs are never left unattended. The care here is unmatched anywhere. Dog Ranch Rescue is a completely separate entity from Lone Star Dog Ranch. It began in 2015 and The Village Sanctuary building housing the rescues is on the same 32 acres. All inquiries about rescue dogs is handled by email at [email protected] and the website for the rescue is dogranchrescue.com. Please don’t call Lone Star Dog Ranch for questions about the rescue, you will be sent to the email address above to correspond with any questions about Dog Ranch Rescue.

We don't do much for Christmas, it's never been my favorite time of year, it's so stressful, so much pressure put on families and buying gifts and preparing meals. I don't even decorate for the holidays.

For many years it was hurry up and have the kids open their gifts, then hurry up and go to one Grandmas house, then hurry up and go to the other Grandma's house, then hurry up and go have Christmas dinner again later in the day. The gift buying was always a huge burden. I owned a grooming shop and you guessed it, everyone wanted their dog groomed for the holidays so work was absolutely swamped. Fast forward to owning the ranch and you guessed it again, it's the busiest time of the year, swamped with dogs to board while their families travel for the holidays.

Add to all of that my birthday, and blah blah blah.
I did cook a big meal for everyone, but sometimes we just go have Chinese food. Simple, and spur of the moment without any pressure to do this, that, or the other. Gift giving is small, Eva made homemade gifts this year. Money is tight, and stress is real. If you can't give a gift then by all means don't. None of us worry about it.

However, this was my gift last night from Travis, my best friend in Southern California Rochelle Darrow has one child, his name is Bryce and he has been in my life since he was a wee baby. Both Rochelle and Eric are artists and of course Bryce has been drawing since he was literally a year old. He would blow us away with his pencil drawing of Batman, and any other cartoon that struck his fancy. He is a grown up man now, and when Travis and I were back in California in June taking care of my mom’s things we got to spend many hours with the three of them. These are people that I love so much it's hard to convey just how much they mean to me.

Little did I know Travis conspired with Bryce to commission a painting of my good man Levon. When I opened it I tried not to cry, but it was too much. He captured my Good Man perfectly and I truly don't have to tell all of you how much I loved this dog.

I will treasure this until my dying day, I loved Levon, and love Bryce, what could be better.

Good night Everyone

Bosco has left the building! This very sweet boy didn’t receive much interest—perhaps because he was hairless—but Jessalynne and Heath saw something special in him right away. Every photo made it clear that Bosco was a gem.

He got along beautifully with all the dogs at the sanctuary and absolutely rocked the cutest little jammies. Now he’s headed to Andrews, TX, where he’ll join a household full of canine friends: Gracie, an almost one‑year‑old playful Frenchie; Lyla, a five‑year‑old Dutch Shepherd; and Benji, a twelve‑year‑old Lab.

Heath came to pick him up at the ranch and shared that Jessalynne was hoping for a dog she could truly cuddle—since Lyla and Benji are “his” dogs, and Gracie is a Frenchie whirlwind with zero interest in snuggling. Bosco fits that wish perfectly.

They expect to keep his name, and he’ll spend his life being loved.

Here’s to a happy forever, sweet Bosco!

Lancôme – Learning How to Be a Dog 💗

After almost 4 years in a puppy mill crate, Lancôme came to us scared and unsure of the world. She arrived with calluses on her feet and knees, a wound on the top of her head, and an ear infection, which is currently being treated. She has also been licking her feet and occasionally still shaking her head … she did receive a steroid injection to help.

Lancôme is approximately 4 years old and weighs just over 22½ pounds.

Despite her rough start, she is slowly but surely making progress. She comes to me for rubs, especially after going potty, and it’s clear she finds comfort in her people. Outside, she has moments of joy—she gets frisky, plays, and even does little zoomies, which are such a wonderful thing to see. She’s been doing really well with her leash walking, both slip leash and harness, and really seems to enjoy it.

She goes outside for her business. She did have a UTI and had a couple of accidents during that time, but antibiotics are taking care of it, and she’s doing well now.

Lancôme enjoys squeaky toys and bones, though she especially likes the bones other dogs have, so that’s something to watch. She has had some issues with other dogs, but she’s doing much better and we’re continuing to work on it.

When meeting new people or new dogs, Lancôme tends to pancake, shake, and breathe heavily. With dogs, she will still check them out by sniffing, though she can be a little grouchy with some. The good news is that the shaking and heavy breathing slow down as she becomes more comfortable.

Lancôme is gradually coming out of her shell. She will need time, patience, consistency, and a calm home, with an adopter who truly understands what she’s been through. I think she could do well with one or two calm, well-socialized dogs with slow introductions, and a meet and greet would be required. She could also thrive as an only dog with the right adopters.

Lancôme is such a sweetheart, and I absolutely love watching her Frenchie personality start to shine. And yes—she is very much a Velcro dog ❤️

Are you looking for a lazy couch potato senior Dogue de Bordeaux?

If yes, then Maybelline is not for you. She is gorgeous, she is 6 years old, she is good with other dogs, but you would never know that she is a senior.

This dog has her foot on the accelerator, she is a wild child, she is out a mill, and she has an enormously large zest for her new life and nobody is going to take this happiness with her new found freedom away.

Applicants should expect this big girl with lots of energy when considering her.

And just like that, Bonne Bell, the last King Charles Cavalier has been adopted! As we’ve shared with the other placements, we were truly grateful for every application we received. They were both a blessing and a challenge—so many wonderful families made it incredibly difficult to choose the perfect home for each of these young Cavaliers.

This sweet girl, the oldest of the group at about 1.5 years, was actually the first to be chosen by her new family. They had recently lost their beloved Cavalier and, as experienced owners, understood both the joys and the health considerations of the breed. Their lifestyle is a perfect match: one parent works from home, the other works just a mile away and has summers off. She’ll join them on camping—well, “glamping”—trips, complete with all the comforts a pampered Cavalier deserves.

The family’s two young daughters are already smitten. In fact, during a school Christmas shop, one of them used her own money to buy a stocking just for their soon‑to‑arrive pup. The gesture was a complete surprise and melted everyone’s hearts.

Her new name will come once her personality shines through, but one thing is certain: her future is filled with love, comfort, and joy.

Wishing you the very best, sweet girl—your beautiful new chapter begins now.

“No privacy warning “ 🤣

Never have I ever had a 9 week old puppy that I didn’t have to get up in the middle of the night to potty. Never have I ever had a 9 week old puppy in less than a week have a full understanding that we run outside and immediately potty, which she does every single time.

Now is she housebroken? Absolutely not, repeat, repeat, repeat about 1,000 times before it’s recognized as something she makes a decision on herself, rather than as a group endeavor.
I don’t imagine she will have a thought of hey I have to potty, and run to the dog door, go outside, do her business, and come back inside on her own for several months, but …..

Who knows because she’s smart as a little cookie.

~Nina June~❤️
