ACAT officially formed in January 2010 because of a need to help cats and to help humans help cats. While ACAT expends a lot of its resources directly helping felines, we know our mission includes education, outreach and coordination with other rescue groups, both private and government. Countering the cat overpopulation problem and reaching the point that virtually all cats are wanted and loved w

ill take a concerted effort. We invite you to be part of our Team through volunteering, donating or by becoming a member of ACAT. If you believe that every cat and kitten should be loved and cared for; If you believe in responsible pet ownership; If you believe that companion animals deserve our love and respect, you are a candidate for ACAT. ACAT is offering memberships for just $20 a year for households or individuals, or at least $250 a year for businesses. Lifetime household (one address) memberships are $200. Call or email ACAT to learn more. Please join us in our mission. Contact us at 982-2228.

❄️ Single-digit temperatures. More snow is coming. ❄️
And for homeless cats across our community, survival is becoming harder by the day.

Recently, we took in a cat who had been found near death — starved, severely dehydrated, and hypothermic. Despite care and warmth, Kiran passed away after two days due to internal damage caused by the cold. 💔
This is the reality many outdoor cats are facing right now.

We can change this.

ACAT provides winter shelters, but the need far exceeds our capacity. That’s why we’re urgently asking for help to build and place more emergency winter cat shelters.

🧊 We are looking for:
• Coolers and large plastic totes
• Straw and insulation supplies
• Heated water bowls
• Donations to help us build shelters

A simple cooler shelter can mean the difference between life and death. One heated water bowl can prevent dehydration and freezing.

Please take a moment to look at the flyer, share this post, and reach out if you can donate supplies or help in any way. Together, we can save lives before the next storm hits.

Paprika escaped in the ASPCA parking lot this morning. The plowing and snowblowing frightened her, and she ran off in a panic.
Please call or text (907) 982-2228 if you see her. She is shy and will most likely need to be trapped.
She is microchipped.
Papria is a short-haired tabby with a few orange spots that stand out.

As temperatures plunged below zero and icy winds tore through Wasilla, a litter of four kittens was found outside, suffering from hypothermia. They were so cold and weak that they didn’t even resist when they were picked up.

🐾 A kind-hearted person didn’t hesitate. They simply gathered the kittens into their arms and brought them to safety, then reached out for help. Because of that single act of compassion, these babies were given a fighting chance.

Elowin, Sylfae, and her two other siblings will be available for adoption soon.

❄️ December has been brutally cold. Temperatures have dropped below zero, and harsh winds are ripping through our community. While many of us turn up the heat and stay safe inside, countless homeless cats are struggling to survive—desperately searching for warmth, shelter, and protection.

🐾 Luca was one of the lucky ones. Wandering the neighborhoods, sick, terribly scratched up, and little more than skin and bones, he crossed paths with a kind-hearted Good Samaritan who opened their door and let him in. They called ACAT, and today Luca is safe, receiving medical care, and being showered with love by an incredible foster caregiver.

💔 Sadly, not all cats are as fortunate as Luca. Several deceased animals have been found during this cold snap—losses that may have been prevented if help had come just a little sooner.

❤️ Please have a heart. If you see a homeless animal, don’t turn away. One call, one warm space, one small act of compassion can mean the difference between life and death. Together, if we care just a little more, we can save lives.

Thank you to every Good Samaritan, foster, and supporter who makes stories like Luca’s possible. 🐱💙

We want to send a BIG thank-you to the folks at 3 Bears on Pittman, for hosting our Holiday Fund-Raiser and Friend-Maker for the third year! They're so welcoming and supportive, really good neighbors to the Meadow Lakes community. We had fun, met lots of nice people, spread the word about our organization, and got a good boost to our budget - you know, the costs of taking care of the kitties just keep going up.
So, thanks very much to everyone who came by and said hello, bought gifts, catnip toys, and the spectacular baked goods, and especially to everyone who donated.
Thanks to Silvia, Fran, and Priscilla's husband for making such tempting treats.
Carol shared all the work both days, spread good cheer and holiday greetings to everyone who passed by, and explained our mission and showed pictures of our sweet kitties.
And thanks to our old friend Matt, who happened to turn up just at the right time and helped carry in tables, boxes, and bags!
Happy holidays to everyone, may your days be merry and bright!
