We work for the dogs, not for public approval, and not to satisfy anyone’s personal wishlist.
Our responsibility is to the dogs in our care, and we do not owe anyone a dog.
When you apply, our job is to determine whether the dog you want is a good fit for your home, lifestyle, and environment. If they’re not, but another dog is, I will absolutely tell you. If none of our current dogs are the right match, I will let you know when one comes in who will thrive with you.
We rescue a very specialized type of dog. These dogs require specific handling, structure, and environments, and those needs vary widely from dog to dog. That’s why the application is the most important part of the process.
Because of this, I will no longer be responding to long emails full of questions about multiple dogs.
If you want to know whether a dog is a good fit for you, the best way, the only accurate way, is to apply openly, honestly, and with detail, and let us do the work we are trained to do.
I may adore you as a person, but I will not place a dog in a home where they will struggle, fail, or be unsafe. I will not set you up for a life of stress with the wrong dog. My job is to protect both you and the dog.
If you do not like the way I run this rescue, you are welcome to start your own and run it however you choose. There are countless dogs out there who need help.
But the ones who come under my umbrella?
I promise them nothing less than the best rest of their lives.
If that hurts your feelings, it shouldn’t.
Just like dating, not every match is meant to be, no matter how badly you want it.
