I love love love when I get to see even tiny bits of progress when making friends with animals. It’s one of my favorite parts of my job. I, of course, love when pets are immediately affectionate upon meeting them, but I also love when they make me work for it and I can see them starting to relax and trust me.

Oh my goodness look at Calcifer grilling me. In the couple of months that I’ve been coming to care for his sister (she is on medication to prevent seizures), he hasn’t let me pet him until just after this picture. He likes his space and takes a good while to warm up. I gave him Churu (treat in a pouch) and like the package says, it was irresistible! Not only did he not run away when I approached, Calcifer allowed me to pet him for the first time ever! Pet lovers will understand how stoked I am for this milestone 🥰
