Today was a special day for Stoney Oaks Ranch.

Not only did we kick off Week 2 of Summer Camp, but we also had the honor of hosting participants from the La Mesa Police Department’s Annual Leadership Camp.
These young women earned their place in the program by writing essays about leaders who have inspired them. Out of all the applicants, the Police Department selected 13 outstanding participants to attend this week’s camp experience. Each day they visit a different organization in our community, and today they chose Stoney Oaks Ranch’s Leadership Through Horsemanship program.

To make the day even more memorable, the El Cajon Mounted Police joined us for a special demonstration, inspiring not only the leadership camp participants but also our summer campers.

What an incredible example of a community coming together to invest in the next generation. Law enforcement, horses, mentors, volunteers, and families, all working toward the same goal: helping young people develop confidence, leadership, responsibility, and character.
I always say it takes a village. Today was a beautiful reminder that when a community works together, amazing things happen.

On Friday morning, our campers received a very special surprise when the San Diego County Sheriff’s ASTREA helicopter flew over the arena to kick off our rodeo!

ASTREA (Aerial Support to Regional Enforcement Agencies) provides law enforcement, search and rescue, fire suppression, and emergency air support throughout San Diego County.

🚨And somehow... they made time to do a flyover for Stoney Oaks Summer Camp!🚨

I’ll be honest, I was told it was going to happen, but I didn’t completely believe it until I looked up and saw that helicopter coming over the arena!

The kids were absolutely thrilled, and it was one of those moments they will never forget.

A huge thank you to the ASTREA crew and all of the first responders who serve our communities every day. We are grateful for everything you do.

Congratulations to all of our campers for putting on such a wonderful show for all of their friends and family today! From Rodeo Queens to barrel racing, pole bending, vaulting and Mounted Shooting, they all had their time to shine in the arena.

Over 50 kids joined us for Week 1 of Summer Horse Camp, and we are already having the BEST time! 🤠🐴

From learning how reins affect a horse, to practicing riding skills, helping with horse chores, making new friends, and even cooling off in the sprinklers, these campers jumped right into the fun.

What a fantastic way to kick off camp season at Stoney Oaks Ranch. We can’t wait to see what the rest of the summer has in store!

WOW. We are overwhelmed with gratitude.

Thanks to our incredible volunteers, families, sponsors, students, and community supporters, Pony Palooza was a huge success. We hit our fundraising goal to help our program put more kids on horses!

This event was powered by countless hours of planning, hard work, generosity, and community spirit. From setting up, running activities, selling tickets, baking treats, leading horses, and cheering us on, every contribution mattered.

Because of you, we are one step closer to expanding our program and opening the gate for more children to experience the confidence, responsibility, leadership, and joy that horses bring.

From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for believing in our mission and supporting our kids.
