📸 It’s TIME to submit your photos for the LHFI 2026 CALENDAR! 📸

• Deadline for submission is August 22, 2025.

• Please send ONE photo per dog. If you have a photo of more than one Leo, submit for either dog.

• Send photo in the highest resolution possible.

• Horizontal/landscape photos will be considered for the wall calendar and vertical/portrait photos for the desk calendar.

• Photos will be organized and anonymously submitted to judges who will select the featured monthly photos.

• All images will be included in one of the calendars.

Leonberger Nationals 2025!!! What a special photo this is for me as a breeder! This is 3 generations of our kennel name starting with our matriarch Bonnie who I am holding with 4 of her children and 3 grandkids! We also took breeders group second place out of 4 entered. Thank you everyone who came and have given these puppies such loving wonderful homes I could not be more proud ❤️

The Leonberger is a large, sociable working dog, that is confident, with a steady, playful demeanor. The breed is willing to please and possesses a good capacity for learning.

Are you interested in this breed? The OFA, working with the Leonberger Club of America, recommends the following basic health screening tests for all breeding stock:
- Hip Dysplasia (OFA or PennHip)
- Elbow Dysplasia
- ACVO Eye Exam
- Leonberger Polyneuropathy (LPN1, LPN2, LPN3)
- Autoimmune Thyroiditis
- Leukoencephalomyelopathy (LEMP)
Optional but recommended:
- Cardiac (Basic, congenital, or advanced via a cardiologist)
- DNA Repository

Dogs meeting these basic health screening requirements are issued Canine Health Information Center (CHIC) numbers. For potential puppy buyers, CHIC certification is a good indicator the breeder responsibly factors good health into their selection criteria.
