Well that is how the original Basset Hounds would have greeted you! Just a little information about our involvement in this breed. It all started with the movie "The Rage: Carrie 2" In this version of the movie the "anti-heroine" had this beautiful Basset Hound whose name was Walter. He didn't have a very big part in the flick but was very much love by the character Emily Bergl was portraying. At
that time I was not showing dogs and was deeply involved in Maine C**n cats. It would be at a cat show in Albuquerque, New Mexico where I would meet and become close friends with a breeder/judge of Basset hounds. Another 5 years would pass before our Bratey became a gift to our son who was turning five years old. i remember the day Bratey a friend went with me to pick Bratey up from the breeder's home and we raced from the mountains all the way back into town to take Bratey up to school to be the surprise for our son at his classroom. Bratey was a BIG HIT at the school. It wasn't long before I had changed my mind about not showing dogs anymore and was asking our close friend about getting another Basset Hound from him. This time as luck would have it, we got our Maggie ( Pas de Deux ) around our son's birthday again. Our then mentor was so very fond of our son and these two gifts were absolutely precious and dear. The emphasis here is on quality and not quantity. We rarely sell breeding animals. Our preference is to place our companion puppies/ dogs in loving forever pet homes (preferably those with children)rather than in kennel situations. We are not interested nor do we have time to micro-manage the show careers of dogs owned by others. Please buy your puppy from a reputable breeder. Please don't support Puppy mills and Backyard breeders!! These so called "breeders" sell puppies of inferior quality and health!! You might think that you bought a bargain, but it is only when these puppies grow up that you will find that they don't have good confirmation, not to mention the health issues that these puppies are at risk of developing. As longs as these breeders gets support from the public, they will keep on breeding!! All our adult hounds are registered with the American Kennel Club and they are regularly shown. Our dogs are not kennel dogs and walk freely around our home ( except at bedtime)! New litters are carefully planned, so it might be a while before puppies will become available, so please be patient. All our puppies will be registered with AKC and will be inoculated, de-wormed, microchipped and vet-checked before they leave for their new homes. With your puppy you will get a puppy starter pack, information on Basset hounds, vet card and registration papers. The puppies grow up in and around our home - they are not kept in kennels, and will be well socialized. If you are interested in getting a puppy from us, you have to complete the Puppy Application and send it to us, we will review your details and reply shortly with information on available puppies or time frame for expected litters. If you are not prepared to wait for our next litters, please reply with NO on that email, so that we can remove you from our waiting list. We sell our puppies to approved homes only, we don't sell to pet shops and puppy brokers. Prospecting owners must sign a sale agreement when acquiring one of our puppies! Please contact us if you want to receive this agreement to study beforehand. We will notify everyone on the waiting list when there are puppies available to be reserved. Usually from around 10 weeks of age. We reserve the right to refuse to sell you a puppy, if it is found that your situation is not in the best interest of the puppy. We are members of the Basset Hound Club of America ( BHCA) and do all the required testing of puppies that we produce.
