So proud of my baby Dragon! Day 4 of trailer training and she’s going on and standing comfortably! When she first came home she was not yet halterbroke and it took about 16 hours over 3 separate tries to get her home. How far we’ve come!! I’m so lucky that she came from a home where she knew kindness and love; even though we’ve had a lot of learning to do it’s made it safe and fun. Tomorrow she’ll be off to kindergarten! We are sending her for 60 days of training to get a jump start. Now she knows how to ride her school bus to get there!

First day in the round pen for Dragon. Target training AND haltered! She tried to steal my coffee too.

Meet Moose/Memphis: 10-15yo 14.3h Iberian/QH Cross Gelding – Marshalltown, IA

Solid, handy gelding with a good foundation. He’s done ranch work, sorted cattle, you can rope off him, and he’s been trail ridden extensively. Reportedly used as a “dancing horse” at rodeos down south (unconfirmed, but he does have some unique moves).

Since he’s been here, he’s been more of a family horse. Ridden English, Western, ba****ck, in a bit or hackamore, by both adults and beginner kids. 100% sound, no maintenance, PPE welcome at buyer’s expense.

Details:
• Age: 10-15
• Height: 14.3
• Cross: Iberian/QH
• Location: Marshalltown, IA
• Price: Low to Mid-four figures

His flaw:
He’s not the best fit for every turnout. He does well with my Thoroughbred, pony mare, and goats, but he wants to be at the top when introduced to new horses. He and my dominant mare won’t settle their pecking order, and I don’t have safe paddocks for handling it. Unfortunately, she needs too much TLC to consider moving so im looking for a good home for him. Negotiable for the right situation, motivated.

He’s a fun, versatile horse that’s ready for someone who’ll put his skills to work.

Excited to see what we can learn about moms little mare 🙂

Remember Whiskey, who we pulled from a sale in 2023? Now he’s teaching my kiddos to ride. Hard to believe this is the same horse!

This little guy is a retired show horse with a big heart and an even bigger need to be the center of attention. He’s 17, 13.1hh, and the same solid, steady ride whether you hop on every day or once a year. He loves kids, and he’s safe—my son rode him the second time he ever sat on a horse. He’s responsive and fun without ever feeling overwhelming. He’ll teach soft hands, legs, and seat just by being who he is. Ask for more, and he’ll pitter-patter those little feet like he’s got somewhere to be, even if you’re not actually going anywhere. It’s a confidence-building ride that feels exciting without ever crossing the line.

No buck, bite, or rear. He’s not wild about having his ears played with, but he’ll put up with it. He’s pawed the air a few times when nervous or tied, but give him a little reassurance and he settles right down.

He’s been barefoot for the past two years and stays on a five-week trim schedule. His toes grow fast, and we’ve seen some wind puffs pop up on his back fetlocks if he’s been in deep mud too long—but they come and go and haven’t caused any problems. A prior owner suggested wedge shoes for heavier riding, though he’s done just fine barefoot here.

He lives out 24/7 with a run-in and settles in quickly anywhere. I’ve heard he can get a little hotter in a stall or hectic environment, but he trailered beautifully and made himself right at home here. He gets along with horses, goats, chickens—you name it. He’s middle of the herd and doesn’t stir the pot. He might call once or twice if his buddy leaves, but he’s not herd-bound when it’s his turn to head out.

Truthfully, he’s not getting the time or attention he deserves here, and my other horse has started picking on him. I’d love to see him land somewhere he can shine again—he’s happiest when he’s got a person doting on him.
