Quick Cat Fact

Ever wonder why your cat stretches so often?

Stretching helps cats increase blood flow to their muscles, maintain flexibility, and prepare their bodies for movement after resting. It may also be one way cats mark territory, thanks to scent glands in their paws!

So the next time your cat does a big stretch, they're doing more than just looking adorable.

Enrichment Tip: iPad Games for Cats

Did you know some cats enjoy interactive games on a tablet?

Apps with moving fish, bugs, or lasers can tap into your cat’s natural hunting instincts, encouraging them to stalk, paw, and pounce right on the screen.

It’s a great option for short bursts of mental stimulation, especially on rainy or low-energy days. Just be sure to occasionally toss a treat to reduce frustration if they can't catch their prey.

And let’s be honest…

Between kids and cats, we’re all just out here sharing our electronics now.

Enrichment comes in many forms, even occasionally the digital kind.

Quick Cat Fact

Did you know a group of cats is called a clowder?

While many cats prefer their independence, they can form social groups, especially when resources like food and safe shelter are available. These groups (clowders!) often develop their own social structure, with familiar cats choosing to rest, groom, or spend time near one another.

You might even notice this in multi-cat homes, where certain cats bond more closely and form their own little “friend groups.”

Cats may be known for their independence, but they’re more social than we often give them credit for.

Enrichment Tip: Scent Swaps

Cats explore the world through scent.

Try introducing a safe, new smell, like a sprinkle of catnip, silvervine, or even a blanket that’s been in a different room to spark curiosity and exploration.

Rotating scents keeps their environment fresh and mentally stimulating without adding clutter.

A little novelty can go a long way for a curious kitty.

Quick Cat Fact

Cats walk in a unique way called a direct register, meaning their back paws step almost exactly where their front paws were.

This helps them move quietly and efficiently, perfect for sneaky hunters.
