Please take note and share with any owners of afflicted dogs- acupuncture is VERY EFFECTIVE in helping dogs recover from geriatric vestibular disease. Acupuncture treatments can also help to decrease/eliminate recurrent episodes.

This is an old post, but a good one. I have several friends whose old dogs came down with vestibular and their initial thought was panic. While vestibular is not fun to deal with, dogs usually 'mostly' recover from it, with varying minor leftover side effects.

In Memory of My Loyal and Loving Golden Retriever "Bhodi" ... A Story About His Courageous Fight to Beat A Terrible Cancer...and the Wonderful Work Researchers at Penn Vet are Doing to Prolong the Lives of Dogs with Hemangiosarcoma. Bhodi refused to give up, always bouncing back after every treatment. He lived for almost 6 weeks after being diagnosed, and I believe He "Hung In There" for ME. That's was How Strong our Bond was. He died at 8 years old, but the work being done at Penn Vet Offers Incredible Hope for other Dogs with Hemangiosarcoma.

Sadly, Bhodi was not eligible for the Research Project because all the dogs in the study have had their spleen removed, and the surgery was way too risky for him. I think he's Wagging his Tail in Heaven though, at the success other dogs are seeing.

Danny and Ron's rescue are amazing. Please consider donating in the near future- surely they will be facing some major challenges secondary to this weather event!

(Camden, SC) Danny & Ron's Rescue is in the middle of the worst flooding in the history of the SC Midlands. The news reports have declared this is a natural disaster in the making. With 17" of rain (and still raining) our new Medical Annex and Quarantine Rooms have flooded, forcing us to move over 32 sick and injured dogs into the main portion of the Doghouse. All streets surrounding the rescue are flooded and closed; thank goodness Ron is home and one of our D&RR staff members was able to reach the Doghouse. D&RR staff living at our Beaver River Farm Sanctuary were able to move our dogs to higher ground and into the warmth and safety of the barn. Thank you all for contacting us with your concerns --- rest assured our dogs are SAFE!

Welcome Snickers to CVA!! Snickers belongs to one of my very first clients from my time working at Aiken AH. We r treating Snickers for a suspected partial tear of the ACL.He also has mild patellar luxurious. He has responded nicely to AP & herbals. Now Mom has the tough job of slowing him down. Not an easy task!

Hey dr Elinka Jk Beck. U gotta wecome my snickers to CVA.

A CVA patient crossed the rainbow bridge today. Our condolences go to her owner. We will miss Kelly- she was feisty to the end and quite a character. She lived 14 wonderful years with a loving and dedicated owner. Our thoughts are with you Doreen.

I treated Anna Banana today- such a rewarding case! She came to me with history of vomiting (suspected IBD), weight loss, interstitial cystitis, skin allergies and lethargy. We tested her for food allergies, changed diet accordingly, started on Xiang Lian San and have treated with AP 4 times. Just checked a U/A by cysto & culture- cystitis completely cleared. She is not vomiting and according to her owner is "her old self but better". Her biggest problem right now is trimming down a bit- she likes her new food a bit too much :-)

Today Jayne and I fitted Edward into Katy's cart. It was good to be able to make Edward happy and give him the mobility to enjoy life more, but bittersweet in that it reminded me of how much I miss my Katybug :-( She was such a force of nature in our household!!!

WildAid

Please do not buy ivory and share this video with as many as possible! Please also consider Wild Aid in your donations- it is the only charity entirely devoted to the cessation of product sales in the wild animal trade.

In 2012, just under half of people surveyed by WildAid in China believed that elephant poaching was a problem. According to our latest report, that number has risen to over 70 percent. We're thankful for the hard work of Jiang Wen and other WildAid ambassadors who are bringing this message to the world. #IvoryFree http://bit.ly/17OhSFS

Welcome to Ms. Anna Banana to CVA. We actually treated her for the first time about 4 weeks ago for suspected IBD, Excess Heat and Yin Deficiency. She has done so well with a diet change and herbals that we have only had to treat her every other week during this initial phase. At last visit Mom said " She is like her old self, but better!" Yea Anna!

Couldn't help but cry when I read this....

Sheila Marsh's dying wish was to say goodbye to the horse she loved for 25 years. Staff at Royal Albert Edward Infirmary in Wigan wheeled her bed to the car park. Nurse Gail Taylor explains what happened next: "The horse, Bronwen, walked steadily towards Sheila. Sheila gently called to Bronwen and the horse bent down tenderly and kissed her on the cheek as they said their last goodbyes." Sheila passed away hours later.

The Chemistry of Kibble

All my clients know that I am not a kibble fan!!! Please read this article of you feed kibble to your pets! I am convinced that feeding a good diet of either canned, commercial raw or a DESIGNED homemade diet (important to ensure proper nutrition) would help avoid so many of the chronic diseases we see in our pets.

The billion-dollar, cutting-edge science of convincing dogs and cats to eat what’s in front of them.

My patient with laryngeal paralysis is doing quite well! She has gained about 4 pounds since treatment began and her attitude is much improved. She still occasionally gags after drinking water but she is much more frisky, wants to play and has had a good appetite.

Began treatment on a patient with laryngeal paralysis yesterday. Have talked to colleagues and on review of literature acupuncture has a 90% effective results!
