Mission: Our mission is to rescue unwanted horses who have suffered from abuse and neglect; and work with select racetracks to “repurpose” Off-the-Track Thoroughbreds. We provide each with food, medical attention and personal care until we find an appropriate and responsible placement. We also assume responsibility for the ongoing well-being for the horse after it leaves Aiken Equine Rescue.

Aiken Equine Rescue is a Thoroughbred Aftercare Alliance (TAA) accredited facility. We are heavily supported by the TAA and other racing individuals that support the aftercare of thoroughbreds. We support the racing industry when it is done correctly. Responsible breeding, responsible owners, and responsible trainers are what make racing great. It is the end of the year and donations have slowed way down! We have about 67 horses and we need your help. The rescue runs solely on donations and during the holidays our donations slow way down.

With the drought this summer and not getting enough rain, we have been feeding out our winter hay since August and our feed bill has grown immensely.

We know during the holidays money can be tight, but if you are able to help we sure could use it!!

We are so thankful to be accepted into the Take2 program. We will now be able to re home even more thoroughbred racehorses into new careers! This year we have rehomed 70 horses! We are tickled to death and so happy for all these horses to have new homes to enjoy! Our November adoption incentive was a success in finding many horses homes before the holidays! We have accepted Tomorrow Tomato into our program to find a new home thanks to Richard Schosberg and we now need help finding low cost shipping for her! If you have any leads or can help he will need shipping from Belmont to Aiken!

She is beautiful as ever and if you are chomping at the bit about adopting this perfect face please go ahead and submit an application through our website at www.aikenequinerescue.org
