Love natural sprays!

I don’t like to use harsh chemicals on me or my animals. Aside from the reactions I usually have because my body is super sensitive, I just don’t understand why we insist on using toxins when natural, non-toxic alternatives are available. The downside is that usually the “all-natural” choice...

I am growing my online teaching with www.TheHorsemanshipAcademy.com and trying to decide between teaching bit-less or bridle-less riding or self-loading onto a trailer. Anyone have any feedback for me? Or is there a topic you'd enjoy seeing me teach an online course on?

Always remember to purchase buckets with rubber guards over their handles or use electrical tape to close the gap on the bucket handle. Horses sometimes use buckets to scratch on leading to problems like this one.

Very interesting read. I love learning about herd dynamics!!

Did you know that many horses need a strong female presence in the herd in order to feel comfortable enough to sleep?
.
According to Joe Bertone, DVM, MS, DACVIM "Equine society is very matriarchal. Mares are responsible for the day-to-day well-being of the herd and act as sentinels watching over other horses as they rest," he says. "Males can fill this role, but in general this is a mare's job. There have actually been studies that show that horses will look to the nearest mare before they lie down. These horses feel safer knowing that a mare is on lookout. They don't seem to trust geldings or even stallions as much. In fact, he says, the practice of separating mares and geldings into different fields may lead to very tired geldings."
.
Makes a lot of sense. 🐎 could be useful to know that if you have a gelding who doesn’t lay down 🐎

Tip of the day.
We as humans know how to eat with a knife and fork or do up shoe laces etc. These skills have been taught to us and are therefore learned experiences.
Horses from the moment they are born know how to do all that we ask and more so why do we think they don't.
When you look at this picture below do you understand what it is saying?
I tell people this all the time.

Horses naturaly know how to bow how to back up how to side step etc but if they dont do it its because you havent asked them in a way they understand.

Watch them in the paddock and they will do all of these things and more and then tell me "My horse doesnt know how to do ..........."

Be careful when worming

Just a warning. Today someone lost her beloved dog because her horse spit out a drop of ivermectin. The dog licked it and like horse wormer it is toxic to dogs. Even the manure the next day. She has been a horse trainer for many years and at 72 is leading the state of Florida in competitive trail. Yet this caught her off guard. #sadwarning
