Families have now made their selections, leaving this handsome male available to join his new home beginning July 10.

He has been raised in our home, received a clean bill of health from our veterinarian, is current on vaccinations and dewormings, has an AKC Reunite microchip, and a pre-paid registration with both AKC and NAVHDA.

A little behind the scenes from the B litter.

This week we took stacked photos of each puppy to document how they're developing. It's always fun to watch their individual personalities and unique markings continue to emerge as they grow.

Heidi is 1 year and 1 month old from our A litter, out of Glen Allen’s Ridge UT-I and Sundance Köhler Illumination MH UT-II. She has already earned a Prize III in her NAVHDA Natural Ability test and is currently preparing for her NAVHDA Gun Dog test, as well as the UKC/HRC Started test.

With retrieves like this, I think she’s well on her way. It’s always rewarding to watch these young dogs continue to mature and develop with dedicated owners putting in the time and effort.

Got some good news today!

Chris Baughman tested Vanguard Augustus ("Gus") at the Hawkeye Chapter NAVHDA Natural Ability Test and earned the highest possible score—a Prize I with 112 points!

I am incredibly grateful to Chris for the time, effort, and dedication he has invested in Gus's training and development. It is rewarding to see that hard work recognized on test day.

I would also like to thank Fred Rice of Sundance German Shorthaired Pointers. Last year Fred referred Chris to me when he was looking for a puppy from our A-litter. Since then, Fred has generously welcomed Chris to his property to train with the famous Sundance pigeons and helped lay the foundation for success on the pheasant track.

Congratulations to Chris and Gus on an outstanding accomplishment. We are proud to see another Vanguard-bred dog earn a Prize I!

Last October, Vanguard Gun Dogs welcomed a new hunting partner: **Ty** (Windchime's Down For a Good Tyme MH UT-II).

Ty is owned by Joe Finney of River Roan Kennels, but he has spent the past eight months living here at Vanguard, where he's been transitioning from a polished test dog into a seasoned wild bird dog.

His first season with us was a busy one. In October, Ty traveled to Montana, where he hunted pheasants, sharp-tailed grouse, Hungarian partridge, and ducks across the northern prairie. Back home, he spent December and January chasing woodcock in the North Carolina covers before making another trip west to Kansas for pheasants and quail.

One of the most enjoyable parts of the season was watching Ty learn that not every bird encounter needs to look like a test. He has embraced life as a hunting dog and has developed into a stylish, confident wild bird dog while still retaining the trainability and cooperation that earned his MH and UT-II titles.

Ty's pedigree makes his story especially meaningful to me. He was bred by Windchime Kennel from Windchime's Super Sensation and Friedelsheim's Blues Brother UT-I. Brother was a dog that I owned, trained, and campaigned, and he remains one of the foundation dogs behind Vanguard Gun Dogs today. Brother is also the sire of Rose, making Ty and her half siblings.

A sincere thank you to Windchime Kennels for producing him and to Joe Finney of River Roan Kennels for trusting me with him. We're looking forward to many more miles, many more bird contacts, and many more days behind a dog that loves finding wild birds.

While Ty lives and hunts with us, he remains owned by Joe Finney and is available for stud through River Roan Kennels.

The B Litter is two weeks old today, and the first eyes are starting to open.

Healthy, growing fast, and becoming a little more curious every day. Rose is doing a fantastic job raising this group.
