A few months ago, after Jesse's 9th birthday, his health began to decline. He had a heart of a fighter, even after his stroke, and other issues that come with age, his loving and attention seeking nature didn't change. Those lucky enough to have rabbits down off him, please appreciate them.

Sadly I had to do what was best for him and with a vets assistance, the day before my birthday, I held him until his last breath so he wouldn't be alone when he passed.

He lived a good life, he left a legacy of children, grand children and so on that achieve success on the show tables and off as producers. He was loved and cherished every day...I know he was one of a kind, and cannot be replaced, in our herd and in my heart ๐Ÿ’”

A few weeks ago we posted about the $20 cat desheder, and we used it on Haven who is a very sweet doe.We got a few comments from people stating their rabbits wouldn't sit still for it.

I decided to up my game. Paddington and his grandson Arturo are molting and both are NOTORIOUS for hating any grooming, including spinning and nipping. Clip their toenails and expect being thumped ๐Ÿ™„

I started with Paddington and he laid down! I thought, ok he's 5 and chilling out. But then Arturo is a young senior buck with plenty of energy & attitude. This video is of Arturo laying down for grooming ๐Ÿ˜„

Faith and I have never been able to or like to be too far away from the rabbits. The last couple of years have been rough around here, in the Rabbitry and personally.

Thank you Diana Strauss Rehman for helping evaluate juniors, culling when we cannot get to the only person we trust Amanda Fritsch and keeping our spirits up, encouraging us to continue to show (once in awhile).

We don't want to be a popular Rabbitry, have media attention, or be in any particular cliques. Our attention and focus is & always has been on the best care & breeding practices for the rabbits, and don't enjoy the intensity of the competitiveness that drives people to the point of cheating, parents/adults using youth classes for their own gain and using the rabbits as a income source.

That being said we've been fortunate to have a few close, trustworthy, and extremely helpful friends and mentors and are grateful for their support. We don't really need more than that.

HOPPY HOLIDAYS EVERYONE!!

In early September, hundreds of rabbit guardians joined our nationwide day of action for the โ€œLet Bunnies Flyโ€ campaign, calling on airlines to allow bunnies in-cabin. If you missed it, thereโ€™s still a chance for you to get involved to help keep the momentum going and the pressure on airlines, agencies, and elected officials.

Step 1: Contact major airlines in North America. Visit houserabbit.org/updates/2025-august-let-bunnies-fly for a script to get you started!

Step 2: Sign the Change.org started by Better Bunny in Hawaii, urging Alaska Airlines to allow rabbits to fly in-cabin. Sign now at change.org/p/allow-rabbits-to-fly-in-cabin-on-alaska-airlines.

Step 3: Contact the DoT & FAA and your senators & representatives, letting them know this issue matters to you. Visit houserabbit.org/updates/2025-september-let-bunnies-fly for contact information.

Step 4: Join the โ€œLet Bunnies Flyโ€ Facebook group where you can connect with other rabbit lovers, share updates, and be ready for the next day of action. Join now at facebook.com/groups/578380271936272!

Step 5: Have you flown with your rabbit in-cabin before airlines changed their policies? Share your experience on social media using the hashtag . Real stories from rabbit guardians show that rabbits can travel safely and calmly alongside their humans. You never know who might see your post; whether an airline employee, a legislator, or another advocate; and your story could make all the difference.

The more people who speak up, the louder our message becomes. Let's keep pushing until bunnies have their boarding passes too.

We've seen some posts showing Holland Lops having their coats blown due to molting. We were taught by a fellow HL breeder whom has experience with French Angoras and JW the right way to do it. Due to comments for concern for the rabbits, let's review this.

FANCY is HL fuzzy. So she is something between a HL/wool coat. For demonstrating she's a good candidate. Lowest settings for air and heat. The round nozzle is for gentle grooming, unlike the one usually used for wool breeds. You see FANCY doesn't need someone to hold her, cover her face or keep her from being blown away ๐Ÿ˜… it still does a wonderful job, her posed pictures are on a previous post.

1st, no rabbit should have the blower aimed at their face and ears, damage could be done, and it's just not enjoyed by the rabbits. As shown, we can blow out her coat without blowing air in her face.

2nd, use LOWEST speed and the heat settings. HL do not require the intensity that a wool breed does to clean the coats. Even on a fuzzy, she doesn't require the intensity of a true wool breed, so think about the HL and how sensitive they are.

3rd, there's a difference between nozzles, any groomer can tell you. Better yet, read about the intended use for each different one.

People should educate themselves not just follow posts and take for granted what they see on Facebook is the best way to do things. Winning shows doesn't automatically equal to extensive knowledge in rabbit care and best interest for the rabbits. We've seen others asking/telling people what to do about lots of situations and while the intentions are good, the information they share actually harms or kills the rabbits. Above all else, quality of life and care, basic husbandry practices should be the a breeders 1st priority. Sadly, we don't see that often.

SH'S Fancy needed a blow out, hopefully she's done molting. Sometimes when a fuzzy looks so cute at 7 weeks old and your friend says take her back home or I'll keep her, she becomes a Mascot in a Holland Lop only Rabbitry. Her body and her bone under that coat are exceptional. Paddington is the Sire of both her parents. I wish I could spend this much time on my own hair ๐Ÿคฃ

There isn't a Holland Lop owner alive that doesn't know the pain of of their molt. We're always looking for anything to make it go faster, easier, less messy for them and us.

I saw this cat Hartz De-Sheder for $20 at Walmart. We especially like that it's easy on them without the poking bristles of the brushes or combs.
