Hi fellow pet lovers! I started advertising months ago to help get the word out for a great, new, non profit clinic I started working for with an amazing doctor I've been working with in Jasper. I also advertise for my own small business more locally (Woodstock/Acworth/Kennesaw/Marietta) providing house calls for basic nursing services for scared to travel or difficult to medicate pets.

In the 3 years I've been at our new clinic, we've been getting many, many calls because people can't get through to their regular vets for basic information, questions and advice. I'm not asking anyone to leave their clinics but want to offer myself as a free resource for all pets and pet owners.

I have been a veterinary technician for 35 years, My family has veterinarians in it and while I am NOT a doctor, I have a wealth of knowledge that can at least help when you are home and afraid or just unclear on an instruction you may have been given. Please keep in mind I cannot and will not diagnose or offer any advice against your doctors orders.

I see a lot of well meaning but potentially harmful advice all over the internet and understand that the cost of veterinary care is often too much to go to a veterinarian when there is a concern so please feel free to reach out to me. If I can't help with whatever you need, I will help direct you to someone who can.

There is no charge. I do ask that you text rather than call (I work and can't answer right away, I also hate spam calls). If you prefer a callback, just text your name and let me know it's about a pet and is too much to type and I will call you back. I hope this can help some of you!

Pet tip of the week, this one's a twofer...

1. If you give your pets medicine in hot dogs, peel off the skin. It can act as a barrier and prevent the body from absorbing the medication.

2. If your pets "lipstick" gets swollen and stuck outside its sheath, cover it in granulated sugar (and put a cone on so they can't lick it off) It takes a little time but it brings down the swelling.

Wet and dry noses determining the health of your pet is an old wives tale.

What to look for:
Less playful, decreased appetite, 3rd eyelids slightly raised. If you're concerned about a fever feel their ears and under their legs. The most accurate way to take a temp is rectally, just like a baby (we recommend not using the family thermometer 🤣) OR put it under their armpit and after it beeps (it takes some time this way) add 2.

Normal temperature for dogs and cats is 100 - 102.5 F. If you get 104 or higher, get to a vet!!!

Toe grips or nail caps applied?
Is your pet recovering from a severe problem or on palliative care and you need help giving fluids or physical therapy?

Hi! My name is Jenn and I am a veterinary technician with 33 years of working with all kinds of dogs and cats (and others!) If your pet is struggling with what's listed above, or you need advice, tips and tricks to getting your pet the best, least stressful care, give me text. For a fee, depending on the service, my son (also an experienced tech) and I will come to your home and help with your furry buddy's needs. If I am unable to help, I will direct you to someone who can!

Another free service I offer is counseling. I see a lot of well meaning but potentially harmful advice all over the internet so please feel free to reach out to me at anytime (even late hours) if you have questions about your pet.

There is no charge for the calls. I do ask that you initially text rather than call so I can filter spam. If you prefer a callback, just text that and I wilI get back to you as soon as possible.

Also, while I am not a professional groomer or trainer, we are able to de-matt/shave and help with some behavioral issues. I've even painted a few nails after trims! Text me, we'll talk.

On a side note, I own several Chihuahuas and a Pomeranian, so if you have one of those adorable breeds that everyone is afraid to handle, we're your team! We're also great with unhappy cats!

Please remember, I am not a doctor, (a technician is basically a nurse) so I am unable to prescribe or diagnose anything.
