Spaying Saves Lives: Meet Bella, a Brave Senior Shih-tzu Seeking Her Forever Home π
Today, we want to talk about something incredibly important for our furry friends: Spaying.
Beyond preventing unwanted litters, spaying offers significant health benefits, especially in preventing mammary cancer, a common and often aggressive disease in unspayed female dogs.
We're seeing the direct impact of this right now with our sweet Bella, a resilient 13-year-old, 9 lb girl who underwent a double mastectomy yesterday to remove mammary tumors. Bella is a shining example of strength; she's recovering remarkably well from her surgery and her spirits are high!
While we don't know Bella's full history, her journey underscores the critical importance of early spaying. Spaying significantly reduces the risk of mammary cancer, especially if done before a dog's first heat cycle. For older, unspayed females, the risk climbs considerably.
Despite everything she's been through, Bella is full of love and ready to enjoy her golden years in a forever home. She's a gentle soul who deserves all the comfort and affection the world has to offer. If you're looking to open your heart and home to a truly special senior dog, please consider adopting Bella. She's proof that even after facing tough battles, there's so much life and love to give.
As always, THANK YOU Dr Vance & the team at Homeward Bound Vet for taking such good care of our sweet girl. And to Linda for her generous donation that has covered Bella's vet care π ($2,800 so far)
Please share Bella's story! Let's find this brave girl the loving home she deserves, and remind everyone of the life-saving power of spaying.
