The story of Oaty and Prince continues..

As their mama was having major issues during childbirth, it became clear she would need help as she was struggling but could not birth the next kittens.

At the vets it was confirmed that the remaining kittens were stillborn and emergency surgery had to be performed. These little kitties had to be bottle fed while their mum was in surgery and recovered. After surgery, the mother cat was not receptive to them so they entered foster so they could be fed and cared for. At this age, kittens are incredibly vulnerable and need round the clock care.

Sadly, their biological mother didn't accept these little ones. Despite the best efforts of volunteers and the vets.

But it worked out okay. With a lot of work from human carers and after being adopted by some of the resident cats. In particular, our special girl Ausra, the tiny kittens began to grow and thrive.

Oaty was given her name by a sponsor who had wanted a cat with that name. And Prince was named by me, after a long standing joke about a pub called the Prince of Orange.

We are going to be trying a way new of working and this will reflect in our content!

While we want to help as many kitties as we can in Ukraine, we do understand that we can't save them all. Delivering food is lifesaving, but also a drop in the ocean when you consider the amount of need...

Meanwhile, we continue to advocate for the sterilisation of pets but it is an uphill battle. It will take at least a generation for attitudes to change meaningfully. We won't give up on this, we will continue to fund and facilitate TNR programs.

While the situation looks bleak in these regards, where can we find a spark of hope or even joy? The answer to us is, in the individual success stories. The in-depth case studies which follow those lucky few cats who hit the jackpot and instead of living and dying anonymously find a foster and eventually a home.

We don't have the facilities or funding to do this on a large scale. We can only take 1-2 cats at a time. It takes months of foster, countless days in the vets, hours of paperwork and hundreds of dollars to even get a cat ready for transport abroad. And then the transport needs to be arranged of course🤦‍♀️ But we hope you will stick by our page, watch the stories of these kitties unfold and support them on their journey.

So, now we will introduce our two tiniest members. Prince and Oaty ❤️ 🐾 two tiny fosters who came to us at just a few days old. Please stay tuned to watch their story unfold 🐈

We are currently supporting a lady in Kharkiv who has taken in multiple strays from the frontline. In these dark times, the animal population is spiraling out control due to a lack of spaying/neutering.

Thousands of animals are being brought into kharkiv from frontline areas, both abandoned pets and 'trench kitties' who have been taken care of by soldiers.

There is never going to be enough space for all of these animals. We are never going to be able to save them all. But each time we save one, it feels worthwhile. This lady has saved several. So we will continue to support her with food while these cats rehabilitate.

This sweet kitty is called Mona. She was rescued from a trench by a soldier, the son of a friend of ours. Not only was she extremely traumatised, she had suffered a contusion being close to shelling. The soldier took her home to his wife and they will keep her. Meanwhile, we will help them with plenty of food and toys for Mona as she recovers and settles into her new home ❤️ Get well soon kitty Mona 🐾
