Some cases stay with you forever. πŸ’β€οΈ

Recently, we had the rare experience of treating two monkeys suffering from tetanus, a serious infection that causes painful muscle stiffness and spasms. Tetanus is not something we commonly see in primates, which made this case both challenging and unique.

Seeing them struggle at first was heartbreaking. Tetanus can progress quickly, and every moment matters. With careful treatment, patience, and close monitoring, we slowly started to see small signs of improvement β€” movements becoming easier, strength returning, and the tension in their bodies slowly fading.

The most rewarding moment was watching them recover and knowing that two lives were saved Moments like these remind me why we chose this path. Every animal life matters, and being able to help them through something so serious is truly humbling.

Grateful for the chance to care for these incredible animals and witness their resilience.

If you do need a refresher - or help convincing a friend why spay and neuter matters - here are just a few important reasons:-

A:- Uterine & Ovarian Cancer
Female pets that aren’t spayed are at risk of developing cancer of the uterus or ovaries.

B:-Testicular Cancer
Male pets that aren’t neutered face a risk of developing testicular cancer.

C:- Mammary Tumors
Common in female cats and dogs, mammary tumors are strongly influenced by reproductive hormones and can result in death.

D:- Pyometra
A life-threatening uterine infection that affects unspayed females.

E:-Testicular Cancer
Male pets that aren’t neutered face a risk of developing testicular cancer.

F:- Prostatitis & Prostatic Hyperplasia
Intact males are more likely to develop painful prostate infections or enlargement.
Less Aggression & Territorial

G:-Marking
Unneutered males are more likely to mark territory and display aggressive behaviors, resulting in fights and injuries.

H:-Lower Risk of Injury
Pets that are not spayed or neutered are more likely to roam in search of a mate - increasing their risk of getting lost, hit by a car, or injured in fights.

I:- Prevention of Certain Reproductive Infections and
Cancers

And let’s not forget the ALL IMPORTANT issue of population control. Millions of dogs and cats around the world are euthanized each year simply because there are not enough homes. Spay and neuter programs save lives, not just one at a time, but on a community-wide scale.
To every partner working on the frontlines of spay and neuter efforts β€” we see you, we appreciate you, and we are proud to support your lifesaving work 🌴
