It was back to my London College of Printing roots for this one. I spent a happy afternoon with Deli Tev’s owner getting hands-on with printing ink and wooden blocks at a wonderful little print shop Sea Sky Gallery & Design in Hamble. I wanted to create that nostalgic feeling of the 70’s pantry with its sets of Scandinavian cermaic herb jars, TG Green tea caddies, and random bohemian pots from long forgotten package holidays. ‘Alternately: Odysseus stays at home and waits for his sourdough to prove’. Real life mimics art sometimes, hubby relaxes after reading about waiting for his dough to rise. Minaartcafe Minaartcafe the best Persian dining in town!!

I drew the sketch on my iPad from a series of photos, trying to capture the creativity and essence of the couple who run this cafe, shop and intimate Persian bistro, and include some of their art and cat. It took about eight hours. In this day and age you might say ‘use AI’ and get a result in as many seconds. But I’d argue true handcrafted art is like preparing a banquet and for something delicious and memorable you need time, dedication, life-experience and soul and perhaps just a sprinkling of talent ;-)

PurinaUKI ‘Nourishing Pets. Enriching Lives’ is your website brand statement. Yet this AI slop you are perpetuating is about as nourishing as a pile of squidgy pink MRM. In what weird brand strategy meeting was that thought of as a clever idea? Not only have you really done nothing for your own brand you certainly aren’t enriching any illustrator’s lives out there. How about picking some hand crafted artisanal pets for your next campaign? 🐈‍⬛ My cats go GGGRRRR!

It’s day! The Thursday market is definitely aimed more at tourists than it was. Cheap fake bags and t shirts replacing the gaudy table cloths and washing up bowls of old. But the veg sellers and the gözleme ladies are still there for a fab lunch and the sense of humour and warm welcome remain the same.
