✔️ Advanced Canine Behaviour Accredited
✔️ Online coaching & in-person support | Bangkok & Krabi Rather than focusing on obedience or “quick fixes” behaviour, my work looks at safety, predictability, skills, emotional states, environment, and the human–

dog relationship as a whole for lasting growth, outcome & deeper understanding. I specialise in fearful, anxious, reactive, rescue, ex free-roaming dogs and in supporting the people who live with them. This work is about alignment, action, wellbeing, responsibility, and realism:
• Is the environment fair?
• Are expectations appropriate?
• Are both dog and human supported to regulate and adapt? There is no judgement, jargon, no dominance myths, no gimmicks, and no toxic positivity just grounded education, lived experience, and practical guidance for real life to suit each individual & new situations as they arise, supporting your dog along the way. As well as extensive hands on experience, I am part of various dog trainer further learning organisations always developing my education and skills to offer maximum support for families. “What command did you use?” 🤔
“How did you do that?”
“Why doesn’t my dog do that?”

And I get it 🤍
because when you’re dealing with it every day,
you just want a clear answer. (Felt the same about tech🤯)

Mr G formerly would have ran out into this car through panic or away as far as possible …
But this is the part people don’t want to hear (oops!):

It’s not about the ‘command’.
It’s not about the how, tell me…
It’s about the why 🔎 start digging baby! 🪏

If your dog runs into the road, ignores you, or reacts to traffic…

That isn’t random, ‘bad’ or ‘stubborn’

It could be fear.
It could be over-arousal.
It could be lack of awareness, too much freedom too soon without skills,
or simply everything else going on is appealing

And each of those needs a different approach.

It’s like…removing a mole. (From your skin!😅)

You can cut it off…
but if you don’t understand what’s causing it,
it comes back.

Behaviour works the same way.

You can stop something in the moment…
but if you don’t address the root,
you stay stuck in the cycle.

There are fundamentals that matter across the board:
✔️ health & wellbeing
✔️ fulfilment (what your dog actually needs, not just what fits our routine)
✔️ clear guidance & consistency
✔️ a relationship your dog wants to follow

But beyond that, CONTEXT MATTERS.

If you want, I can break down exactly how I got my dog here
(from being unsure around traffic to making calm choices like this).

Let me know below 👇

Or tell me, what’s something your dog does that you don’t fully understand yet?

Who is your dog UNDERNEATH the behaviour you see?

So often, when things feel hard, we stop truly seeing the dog in front of us…
and start seeing the story around the behaviour.
Many families I work with start off very frustrated and confused.

The dog who barks at guests becomes “aggressive.”
The one who follows you everywhere becomes “needy.”
The sensitive one becomes “difficult.”
The dog who reacts on walks becomes “bad.”

But behaviour is information.

It’s history, nervous system, genetics, environment, routine shifts, lack of sleep, overstimulation, travel, guests in the house, tension in the home… life.

Sometimes it’s fear.
Sometimes confusion.
Sometimes overwhelm.
Sometimes it’s simply a dog doing their best in a world that feels too loud.

I know this because I’ve been there with my own dog.

There were moments I felt frustrated because what worked with other dogs didn’t work with him.

He’s exceptionally sensitive.
He notices every shift.

At one point, I saw that as the issue.

Now I see it as one of his greatest qualities.

The shift came when I stopped asking, “Are you the right dog for me?” (Yep… wasn’t fun) and started asking, “Who are you, and what do you need from me?”

Sometimes our dogs end up teaching us what we need too: more routine, more presence, more consistency, more honesty.

As we move into the Thai New Year, maybe this is the reset:

Less assumption.
More curiosity.
Less labeling.
More listening.

See the dog, not just the behaviour.

Who is your dog?
What’s something you see differently in your dog now that you didn’t notice at the beginning?🤍

Happy Songkran 🌸💦🐶

Songkran is the Thai New Year a time of washing away the old and stepping into a fresh start (and, let’s be honest, getting absolutely soaked in the process).

Honestly… it feels a lot like life with dogs.

Some days you feel like you’re finally getting somewhere, and then the next day your dog is barking at a leaf, a motorbike, or a man carrying a mop.

Fresh start.

Again 😅
But that’s the beauty of it.

Dogs don’t hold onto yesterday in the same way we do. Every day is a new chance to rebuild trust, practise differently, and move forward with a little more understanding.

So here’s your reminder this Songkran:
leave the guilt, frustration, and “we should be further along by now” in the old year.

New walk. New moment. New opportunity.

Same dog, maybe slightly less chaos.

Happy New Year from our little corner of Bangkok 💛

As the pet industry booms…
As trainers pop up everywhere…

As everyone pushes the latest trending reel, tool, toy, method or “must-do” routine.

As this week’s research seems to contradict last week’s 🤯

As people argue over what’s right, wrong, best, balanced, force-free, structured, relationship-based, and everything in between…

…it can all start to feel loud.

Heavy.
Like you’re constantly behind.🫠
Like you should be doing more.

More training.
More enrichment.
More research.
More techniques.
More problem-solving.

And somewhere in all of that, we can forget the dog right in front of us.

Today I was about to rush into my tasks….
Instead, I sat down with my dog.

No phone. (This was taken another day’)
No pressure.
No “training plan” in that moment.

Just breathing.
Touch.
Presence.
Seeing what he responded to…

And do you know what happened?

He softened.
Then slept.

And honestly, so did something in me.

Sometimes the most important thing isn’t another technique.
It’s coming back to the basics.

Presence.
Attunement.
Rest.
Play.
Safety.
Connection.

Not the kind we tick off like a box 🙈

The real kind.
The kind where you’re actually there.

Before you consume another post today, go sit with your dog for five minutes.

No filming it.
No analysing it.
No trying to make it productive.

Just be with them and you 🤍

Sometimes presence is part of the plan.

We didn’t start by just putting the dogs together

This might look like a simple, slightly clunky walk…
but this was actually a big moment for the little one and his human

First time he’d ever held Mr G, my dog.
First time walking his dog who’s building up trust alongside a bigger one.
No over-planning. No rehearsals. Just… go. 😀

And honestly, this only worked because of everything that came before it.

So no we didn’t start by putting the dogs together.
We started with the human..

His timing.
His awareness.
His ability to slow down and actually read what was happening… instead of just doing what the initial reaction was.

We looked at the environment first.
Took pressure off.
Worked at his dog’s pace.
Built things up in smaller steps.

So by the time another dog came into the picture…
it wasn’t overwhelming, rushed, or forced.

It was regulated. And that’s the difference.

Because what most people do is rush this part.

They’ll put dogs straight together
expect them to “say hi”🙃
or go for a quick walk and hope they’ll just become friends.

‼️But dogs don’t need to like every dog.
They don’t need to play.
They don’t need to be pushed into situations they’re not ready for.

What they need is to feel safe, have th skills fo@handle different contexts and dynamics.
And a huge part of that comes from the human handling them.

That’s the bit that gets overlooked.

This moment wasn’t about control.
It was about alignment.
Attunement.
And trust on both ends of the lead.

👏🏻👏🏻Great work team M👏🏻👏🏻

I’m breaking this down properly in my upcoming webinar including what to look for, what people miss, and how to actually build the human side of the journey step by step.

Comment or DM “Attunement” and I’ll send you the details.🙂

I see this all the time.

You’re trying.
You’re doing the walks.
The enrichment.
The training.

And still… your dog is pacing.
Reacting.
Struggling to settle.

And it leaves you thinking:

“What am I doing wrong?”

But this is the part no one really explains to you.

Your dog isn’t just responding to what you’re doing.

They’re responding to what you’re carrying.

The tension in your body when you’re rushing out the door.
The tight breath when you’re anticipating a reaction (a biggie I see always).
The frustration you’re trying your best to hide.

They feel that before they ever hear a cue.

So you can be saying all the “right” things…

But if your body is in pressure, urgency, or overwhelm, the relationship is breaking down…

That’s what your dog is organising around.

And over time, that’s where the cycle builds:

Your dog reacts →
You tense →
They feel it →
They react more →

And suddenly it feels like everything is getting worse, not better.

This isn’t your fault.

Most people were never taught how to recognise or regulate their own state…

let alone understand how deeply it impacts their dog.

But this is where things start to shift.

Not by doing more.
Not by adding more “training” and control.

But by changing the state you bring into the moment.

Slowing down.
Breathing properly.
Removing urgency from your body.

Because when your dog starts to feel safety from you, joy, relaxation and regulation

everything else becomes easier.

This is what I mean when I talk about attunement.

Not control.
Not perfection.

But learning how to show up in a way your dog can actually settle into and you can also enjoy

And honestly?

This is the part that helps not just your dog

but your entire experience of living with them.

Less pressure.
More clarity.
More connection.🤍

If this hit a bit close to home… you’re not alone in it.
And you’re not stuck here either.

I will be guiding families in the next WEBINAR through an “Alignment & Attunement” https://pawsandflaws.com/courses/alignment-attunement-the-human-side-of-dog-training/

Dogs don’t “suddenly” bite.

They tolerate, tolerate, tolerate…
until they can’t anymore.

And most of the time?
There were signals.
They were just missed.

A lot of people are told:
“Don’t touch your dog like that.”
“Give them space.”
“Let them come to you.”

And it gets brushed off.

Not because people don’t care
but because they don’t fully understand the why.

So here it is:

👉 Touch without consent = pressure
👉 Pressure without understanding = stress
👉 Stress without an outlet = reaction

Especially with:
• Rescue / ex-street dogs
• Sensitive or anxious dogs
• Dogs still building trust in the home

Some dogs accept touch.
That doesn’t mean they’re comfortable.

If you’re unsure, start here:

• Let your dog come to you first
If they choose to come close, sit next to you, or nudge your hand, that’s your green light.

• Start with neutral touch
Stroke down the body, in line with the fur. Avoid going straight for the head, especially with new or sensitive dogs.

• Avoid reaching over or grabbing
This can feel like pressure or control, not connection.

• Learn to read the “no’s”
Turning away, stiffness, lip licking, freezing, these are early signs your dog is uncomfortable.

• Use the touch test (every time)
2–3 strokes → pause → observe
If they move away = that was enough
If they lean in / nudge / stay close = they’re open to more

• Remember: tolerance ≠ enjoyment
A lot of dogs are simply putting up with touch, especially ex-street or rescue dogs.

• Prioritise fulfilment before affection
Walks, sniffing, play, breed-specific outlets
A fulfilled dog is far more open to connection.

• Build trust through consistency
Not force. Not over-familiarity. Even long-term dogs benefit from this reset.

Even if you’ve had your dog for years,
try this and watch the difference.

Because every interaction is either:
➡️ building trust
or
➡️ chipping away at it

And when a dog feels pushed to their limit,
they will communicate the only way they have left.

(See comments)…

Why you can’t stay consistent with your dog (even when you care)😣

I know how frustrating this feels.

You care about your dog
You’re trying

Especially when your dog is reactive, pulling on lead, or just not ‘listening’ outside

And then in the moment?
It all just disappears.

You react instead of respond
Your timing’s off
You feel like you’ve let yourself (and your dog) down… again

I’ve been there too.
(…yes, including me breathing on the toilet floor during a group workshop just trying to get myself back together😬)

Because here’s the part no one really tells you:
It doesn’t matter what dog training method, technique, or advice you’re given 🙃

If it doesn’t align with where you’re at in that moment
Your body and mind won’t let you access it.

When you’re stressed or overwhelmed:
– your memory drops
– your timing goes
– your nervous system takes over

So you don’t choose old habits
You default to them

And your dog feels all of it

Now they’re more alert
More reactive
Less able to listen
And the cycle continues

This is something I’ve seen over and over again
working with families, professionals, people who genuinely care

It’s not a lack of effort
It’s a lack of alignment

And that’s why most ‘dog training & education’ doesn’t stick in real life

This is exactly what I’m breaking down in my upcoming webinar (excited to share with you!):

Most dog training advice doesn’t take into consideration alignment, attunement and full context of the specific individual and home.

If the dog doesn’t feel safe, understood, and regulated first as well as the human regulating with them… none of what is usually done sticks.

Before ‘training’ think of :

Alignment and attunement.

Understanding your dog’s emotional state.
Recognising fear, stress, and confusion.
Context, skills, relationship, resillience…

Creating the conditions where learning and connection can actually happen.

Tonight I’m hosting a live webinar where I’ll break down:

• why many rescue and street dogs struggle in homes and the humans end up frustrated plus confused
• the biggest mistakes people make when trying to “train”
• how alignment between human and dog changes everything

If you live with a dog who feels anxious, reactive, or misunderstood, this is for you.

Recording available if you cannot make the live.
