Seng Choon Farm was established in 1987 in response to a call by the government to develop high-tech poultry farming to maximise the use of land space for local fresh egg production. To date, Seng Choon Farm produces 630,000 eggs per day or 230 million eggs annually.

Think Before You Wash That Egg!

The cuticle is a natural protective layer on the eggshell that helps block bacteria from entering the egg. Washing eggs can remove this barrier and allow bacteria-laden water to be drawn in through tiny pores. That’s why it’s best not to wash eggs until just before use.

In this region, most eggs are not washed to keep the cuticle intact. Instead, automated graders inspect and remove visibly dirty eggs before packing. However, a small number of slightly soiled eggs may still pass through due to machine limitations.

What You Can Do as a Consumer

☑ Dry-Clean If Needed - If an egg looks dirty, gently wipe it with a paper towel.

☑ Store Eggs in the Fridge - Keep eggs refrigerated (~4°C) to slow bacterial growth and preserve freshness.

☑ Wash Your Hands - Always wash your hands with soap and water before and
after handling eggs to prevent spreading bacteria.

☑ Avoid Cross-Contamination - Keep raw eggs separate from cooked and ready-to-eat foods during preparation.

Is an egg just an egg?

Not quite. Every farm has its own “recipe” — a unique combination of feed, care, and environment that gives its eggs their distinct taste.

• Just like the type of oil you cook with can change a dish, a hen’s diet plays a major role in how an egg tastes.

• Eggs naturally vary in fatty acids and nutrients depending on the hen’s breed and feed — and that influences flavor too.

• Healthy, well-cared-for hens absorb more nutrients, passing that goodness straight into the eggs they lay.

• And let’s not forget freshness — the fresher the egg, the better it tastes. Older eggs can lose their richness and taste a bit flat.

So, the next time you crack an egg, remember: you’re tasting more than just the egg — you’re tasting the farm behind it.
