We don’t just change behaviour - we change the underlying emotion.

Positive Association: Neutral stimulus + Reward = Confidence. This builds a cat’s desire to cooperate.

Negative Association: Neutral stimulus + Stress = Avoidance. This triggers a “fight-or-flight” survival response.

Clinical Fact: You cannot “force” safety. Real change requires a calm cat and a positive link.

Do your due diligence🚫💉

I just caught a dosing error on my cat’s medication. The label called for 0.12ml, but the syringe was pre-filled to 0.20ml.

This is the second time I have caught a dosing error. The first time, at a different clinic years ago, the mistake was fatal for my cat.

My advice to every pawrent:

1. Verify the Math: Education yourself on your dosages or conversions if it’s a regular medication.

2. Double-Check the Tool: Ensure the physical volume in the syringe matches the written instructions on the bag. Check expiry dates.

3. When in Doubt, Stop🛑: If the dosage looks wrong or looks less or more than usual, do not administer it until you speak directly with the vet.

Vet staff are humans, often overworked and in a rush, and humans make mistakes.

As the owner, you are the final safety net. Don’t just trust the label—verify the dose.
