Oasis Second Chance Animal Shelter (OSCAS) is a registered charity and non-profit dog shelter that has been in existence since 2006. Over the years, the shelter has rescued mainly stray or abandoned dogs from the streets or from being culled. About a hundred Singapore Specials currently call this shelter home and needless to say, it can only be sustained with help from trusty volunteers and kind donations or sponsorships. Join us to be their voice.

✨ A Midnight & Summer Dream ✨

Meet Summer (7) and Midnight (4), two fluffy companions whose next chapter is waiting to be written.

Just two months ago, these beautiful dogs arrived at our shelter after their owner was no longer able to keep them. Understandably, the transition was a big one, but day by day they have been learning, growing and finding their confidence.

One of their favourite parts of the day is getting outside to explore. They've been learning to walk on leash and are discovering that the world beyond the shelter gates can be full of new sights, smells and adventures.

Like the stars of their own Midnight & Summer Dream, they're hoping for a happy ending — a loving home where they can feel safe, cherished and truly belong.

Their gorgeous long coats are part of their charm, but they will need regular brushing and grooming to keep them healthy and tangle-free.

We'd love to see them find their forever homes where they can truly thrive. Could you be the one to give Summer &/or Midnight the fresh start they deserve?

Diaper Donation Appeal

Some of our senior boys, like Zech, rely on dog diapers every day to help keep them comfortable and clean.

While it may seem like a small item, diapers make a huge difference to the quality of life of dogs with age-related incontinence and other medical conditions. They help our dogs stay comfortable and allow our team to provide them with the best possible care.

If you'd like to help, donations of L-size Male dog diapers can be ordered via most online pet stockists and sent directly to us.

Little Shy Reese finds her forever home!

When Jill first contacted us in November, her family was ready to open their hearts again after the loss of their beloved dog at the remarkable age of 18.

Their journey with Reese began in December with a first meeting at the shelter. Over the following months, they patiently visited her, giving Reese the time and space she needed to build trust and confidence. It was wonderful to watch her gradually come out of her shy shell and form a bond with her future family.

In May, after the family were back from travels, Reese began her homestay, and it wasn't long before she became an important part of the family. Like many dogs who have never experienced living in a home, the transition came with its challenges, but with patience, understanding, and love, Reese has continued to flourish in her new home.

Jill shares more about their adoption journey:

"The first time we met Reese it was during a thunderstorm and while most of the other dogs were barking and restlessly pacing, Reese stood quietly amidst the chaos, completely unbothered. We were instantly drawn to her gentle presence and chill demeanour.

"Over the months of getting to know her better, we have grown to love how she appears reserved at first but reveals a sweet and quirky personality as she becomes more comfortable to those around her. She is cautious but quietly brave.

"The first few weeks of homestay had their challenges, but it has been a rewarding and fascinating experience to see her open up and settle into her new home. Each week brings a new milestone like the first time she ran out to greet us when we arrived home, or how she learned how to patiently wait to have her paws cleaned after every walk."

Thank you, Jill and family, for giving Reese the chance to blossom at her own pace and for welcoming her into your home and hearts. Seeing these milestones, big and small, reminds us why giving a shy dog the time they need can be so rewarding.

When Julian & Hope first reached out, they were hoping to adopt a puppy. But senior girl Choya had other ideas! Julian had long admired the resilience & gentle nature of Singapore Specials, often encountering them during mountain biking trips in Pulau Ubin. When the time came to welcome a dog into their lives, they were open to finding the right match—and Choya proved to be exactly that. Julian shares more:

“When we were ready to finally have a dog, after looking through galleries from different shelters we reached out and OSCAS was willing to give us a chance. We were looking at younger dogs, but the rehoming team recommended several senior dogs they thought would suit our lifestyle & experience better. We decided why not trust the experts, let's meet & see how it goes. That meeting turned out to change our lives forever. They were right.

“We visited OSCAS with open hearts & minds. We did have a favourite amoung the few that were recommended, but Choya had other plans. There was an immediate connection; Choya rolled over for belly rubs & we believe that she chose us.

"The first few days of her homestay were worrying, as she was visibly stressed & didn't eat much. Her walks were filled with scary moments, being the first time in her life seeing bicycles, prams etc. With the incredible support from the OSCAS team, and trust in the 3-3-3 rule, Choya eventually settled in & began showing us her love in many ways: following us around, sleeping beside us as we work from home, wagging her tail & asking for belly rubs.

“Seeing her running to the door when we come home with her tail wagging melts our hearts every day. She is an important part of the family, giving us so much unconditional love & bringing smiles to our faces every day.”

“We'd especially like to thank Theresa & Helen for being extra supportive during our adoption journey. If anyone reading this is looking for a canine addition to their family, do consider adopting a senior dog. The only regret you will have, is that you didn't find them sooner!"

Thank you, Julian & Hope, for opening your hearts & home to a senior. We're so grateful you looked beyond age & gave Choya the loving family she'd been waiting for.

POSTING ON BEHALF...

Dear friends, unfortunately Jeep has severe low red blood count and urgently needs a Canine blood donor to help him through. I hope to plead your help if there’s any suitable dog that fits the following requirements:

Blood type - DEA 1+
Good health and temperament
Weighs at least 20kg
Between 1-8 years of age
Males preferred
If female, must be desexed + never had a litter before
No history of receiving blood transfusions
Vaccinated
Not on any long term medications

If the potential donor fits the criteria above, then the veterinarian will be required to do a physical examination and blood testing on the donor. After the physical exam, if the dog is deemed a healthy candidate, then a small amount of blood will be cross matched with the recipient to see if the donor's blood is suitable for transfusion to the recipient.

Please contact Jason Pok, 98221253 if your dog can help Jeep. Jason will gladly offer a token of appreciation for your help 🙏🏼

Puppy Rusty has officially found his forever family ❤️

Even though Minh and his wife both grew up with dogs, they knew raising a puppy would be a completely different experience — and they embraced it wholeheartedly from day one. Alongside Rusty’s two older human siblings, the whole family was ready to welcome him home with open arms.

After several visits to the shelter, where Rusty spent time getting to know the children (and even the family helper), it was clear a beautiful bond was already forming. With everything prepared for his arrival, Rusty stepped into a home full of love, patience, and commitment.

Determined to give him the very best start in life, Minh and his wife enrolled Rusty in puppy training classes at Noble Canine Oasis Centre, learning all the right ways to help him grow into a confident and well-mannered adult dog.

Minh shares:

“Rusty is a gentle soul wrapped in youthful energy, just waiting for his story to truly begin. Adopting him at six months felt less like taking in a pet and more like welcoming a new baby into the family. It has been less than a month, yet it feels like he has been with us forever. He has already claimed the best spot on the couch and effortlessly become the center of our universe. We feel incredibly fortunate to have him.”

We look forward to seeing how Rusty grows up and appreciate the time his family have taken to ensure they had everything ready including his puppy classes booked in!
