Carrier Tips 101 :
Do try not to lock dead the carriers as much as possible.
This esp important for Cats, Pets with Mobility Issues, Pets prone to aggression, Pets that tend to refuse to come out of the carrier, Pets that are very scared, Pets that refuse to go into the carrier are some prominent examples that would benefit very well from a detachable carrier.
Why is that so? The reason is because we often use the carriers as a tool, a form of aid during treatments, checks and for them to feel safe etc. It is a big source of comfort for them in terms of familarity and smells 😊
It can very stressful when we have no choice but to grab/pull/tip them out for checks and/or administration of medications and treatments, increasing the probability of injuries and negative emotions. If the pet refuses to return to the carrier, they may have to be forced back in, which is a traumatic experience itself that is again prone to injuries.
If the locks can be opened, we can gently disassemble the carrier to make efficient use of low-stress handling to make it more comfortable for them with minimal overstimulation and moving around. They are easily accessible and can be taken out or stay in the carrier if needed.
