Canine Assistance Puerto Rico, LLC

Canine Assistance Puerto Rico, LLC One of the only online programs where you can owner-train a service dog using calming signals. Your dog isn't being difficult. They're communicating. Free quiz

I teach owners to understand what their dog is saying before walks become something to survive. Canine Assistance Puerto Rico is a live online dog training program for reactive, anxious, and overexcited dogs. Our approach is rooted in the calming signals framework introduced by Norwegian trainer Turid Rugaas. We do not use force, corrections, shock collars, or treats as bribes. We teach owners to

understand what their dog has been communicating all along, so that behavior changes from the inside out instead of being suppressed from the outside in. If you are exhausted from walks that feel like something to survive, if your dog cannot settle after stressful experiences, if you have tried multiple things and nothing has worked long-term, you are not failing your dog. You were given the wrong information. The free quiz tells you exactly where your dog is right now and what the first real step looks like for your specific situation. It takes 2 minutes. No email required to see your result. Based in San Juan, Puerto Rico. Available worldwide via live online sessions.

When your dog stops to sniff me walk, they’re not being stubborn.

They’re reading.

Every blade of grass is a text message.

Every fire hydrant is a newspaper.

Your dog’s nose processes, 100,000 times more information than yours.

When they stop, they found something worth reading.

That’s not disobedience.

That’s their brain doing exactly what it was built to do.

Your dog has been saying these things on every single walk and while at home.

Turd Rugo spent decades, documenting the calming signals dogs used to communicate.

Save this. You’ll need it on your next walk.

The three stress signals that appear before every reaction.

30 seconds before your dog lunges, they told you it was coming.

Here's what they said.

Signal one: They stop sniffing. A relaxed dog explores. A stressed dog
freezes their nose first.

Signal two: They go stiff. Not aggressive. Stiff. Like they're holding
their breath.

Signal three: They look away from you. That's not ignoring you.
That's them trying to manage themselves without any help.

By the time they lunge, they've already been screaming for 30 seconds.

This is what Learn to Speak Dog actually teaches you.

Obedience is performance.

It breaks under pressure.

What you really want is a dog who is emotionally regulated, who can walk into any environment, read the room, and stay grounded. That dog doesn't just make your life easier.

For some people, that dog is the reason they can leave the house. We have to help our dog first before they will help us.

That's what this work is really about.
