🔸 Hereditary deafness is a major concern in white cats, and even more so if one or both irises are blue in color. The percentage rises to 40 percent if the cat has one blue eye, while upwards of 65 to 85 percent of all-white cats with both eyes blue are deaf. Some of these cats are deaf in only one ear. 🐱

🔹 Blue eyes in cats are generally caused by a lack of pigment, and all kittens are born with blue eyes because cats don't develop eye pigmentation until they're around six weeks old, when the production of melanin kicks in. 👀

🔸 Cats do not travel well; they tend to get very stressed. Cats like routine, they like the safety of their home, and they don't like change.

🔹 The first thing upon arrival is to make sure that your cat is comfortable, but yet safe at the same time. When your cat arrives, place the cat in one room and make sure it is secure, comfortable and cannot escape. Offer water and a little food although it may not be interested in eating until it settles in a little more. Do not let the cat go outside for at least a week.

🔸 If your dog is expecting, you may notice the following pregnancy signs. A slight mucus discharge may occur around one month after mating. Their teats may become more prominent in colour and size around 30 days after mating, and you may also see them produce a semi-clear fluid.

🔸 The budgie is often underestimated as a hands-on pet. It is certainly good as a “watching only” pet, especially if kept in pairs or in a colony, but it's easily hand tamed and can become a loyal, loving little friend to a patient owner. Budgies are social birds and won't do well in a life of isolation.

🔹 A pair of budgies will, generally, be happier than a single budgie. They are sociable birds, and in the wild they live in large flocks. Two birds, and a couple of mirrors, will recreate the contact and noise of a flock.

🔸 Fast-growing puppies, especially the heavy breeds, have considerable pressure on the long bones of the legs while they are growing resulting in curved or crooked bones. The scaffolding of protein and cartilage is laid down at the growth plate and that frame work is soft and will bow to pressure. Behind that frame, calcium and phosphorus with other minor minerals use vitamins to make solid bone. Vitamin D gets calcium and phosphorus from the gut into the body, and Vitamin C gets calcium and phosphorus into the bone.

🔹 If the diet is short on any of these needed vitamins, minor minerals, calcium or phosphorus, the puppy is slow to calcify while the frame is still being built; soft bones are the result.

💁‍♂️ P.S. Pressure of romping and jumping all day caused the long bones of hind limbs to bow in this 10 weeks old Labrador puppy who was going through his fast growth stage, with early detection Team Alpha was able to diagnose & correct this issue with the right vitamin/mineral supplementation.

🔸 If you’re a German Shepherd owner, you have a strong suspicion your dog might actually be smarter than you are. After all, what can’t your dog do? 🔸 Without their mother's presence, orphaned puppies are susceptible to dehydration, hypoglycemia, hypothermia, and other medical problems, so keep an eye on them. Although the first two to three weeks may be difficult, the effort will be worth it as the puppies blossom into healthy dogs. 🐶
