Rabies is one of the oldest known diseases, but the world has come a long way in the fight against it. Today, we have the vaccines, medicines, tools, and technologies needed to break the cycle and eliminate rabies once and for all.

โฌง๏ธRabies virus (RABV) from the Lyssavirus genus, part of the Rhabdoviridae family.
โฌง๏ธBullet-shaped, single-stranded, negative-sense RNA virus.
โฌง๏ธNeurotropic (targets the nervous system).

โฌง๏ธReplicates in the cytoplasm of host cells.
โฌง๏ธAffects all mammals, with dogs and wild animals (e.g., bats, raccoons) as primary reservoirs.
โฌง๏ธTransmitted through infected saliva, usually via bites or scratches.

โฌง๏ธVirus enters through wounds and travels via nerves to the central nervous system (CNS).
โฌง๏ธCauses encephalitis (inflammation of the brain), resulting in severe neurological symptoms.
๐๐จ๐ฆ๐ฉ๐ฅ๐ข๐๐๐ญ๐ข๐จ๐ง๐ฌ ๐ข๐ง ๐๐จ๐ ๐ฌ:
โฌง๏ธParalysis, seizures, difficulty swallowing, respiratory failure.
โฌง๏ธEventually leads to coma and death if untreated.
