General Appearance:
The Shih Tzu is a sturdy, small, and toy-like dog with a long flowing double coat. They have a distinct arrogant carriage due to their high head carriage and lively demeanor.

Size:
The ideal weight range for adult Shih Tzus is between 9 to 16 pounds.

Head:
The head is round, broad, and wide between the eyes. The muzzle is short, square, and unwrinkled. The nose is broad, has open nostrils, and is black.

Eyes:
The large, round eyes are set well apart and are dark in color. They have a warm, friendly, and distinctly large expression.
