The Australian pied mutation in budgerigars causes random patches of missing pigment-creating those beautiful, unpredictable patterns we all love!
Unlike Clear flight or Recessive Pieds, Australian Pieds usually have:
✅ Random yellow or white patches on the body
✅ Solid-colored feet and eyes
✅ Variations between individuals birds- no two look the same!
🔖 Fun fact: The amount of pied marking can change between generations.... even in the same pair of parents!
