Heartbreaking news has surfaced about Tiger, an innocent dog who was brutally butchered in a public market.
We all know how loving and loyal dogs are. Yes, they may sometimes steal food but not out of malice, only because they are hungry. They don’t understand wealth or poverty, only survival.
But how could someone take a life so cruelly over a mere piece of meat? How could anyone justify slashing a helpless dog’s stomach, punishing it with pain instead of compassion?
A life, no matter how small, should never be taken so lightly. I hope we learn a valuable lesson from this tragedy—that kindness should always outweigh cruelty, and that no creature deserves to suffer for simply trying to survive.
This horrific act is a clear violation of the Animal Welfare Act of the Philippines (RA 8485, as amended by RA 10631), which prohibits the killing, torture, or maltreatment of animals.

Imprisonment: 6 months to 2 years
Fine: ₱30,000 to ₱100,000 (depending on the severity of the act)
