CULL for temperament issues. 🐇
I had a couple people ask why I culled most of my rabbits that has temperament issues. This post is going to explain that.
HM Tokyo was the most balanced Pure Nz Black that I had ever produced. She was one of the product of my (ImportxImport) breeding, both nice rabbits that when paired together, produce beautiful kits. At a young age napansin ko na si Tokyo, was a bit temperamental. I chalked it up to teenage hormones. Afterall, does can be a little bit feisty, especially pag naitabi ng cages sa mga Bucks for an extended period of time. And she was.
The attitude never went away. In fact, it worsened. This baffled me, as neither of his parents were this way. It got the the point where feeding time became stressful and she was constantly trying to bite me, and everyone else for no reason whatsoever.
Marami akong sinubukan na remedy at practices. I figured maybe she needed more exercise, so I let her out in the exercise pen. Every time kukunin ko na siya, she charged at me. When placed in a carrier, she would immediately jump to attack once it opened. 🤦🏻♂️
Breeding was incredibly stressful. She was aggressive towards my Bucks and even tore Namra’s ear tip. That day I decided enough was enough, and I terminally culled her. I have no regrets, and my herd is at peace again.
Tokyo was a very aggressive rabbit that lived up to her name, and this temperament is not something I wish to carry forward in my lines. Temperament is something I will cull just as heavily as body from now on.
Breed to Improve 💯
