I'm Karin, a Certified Professional Dog Trainer (CPDT-KA) and Certified Behavior Consultant (CDBC), a Mentor Trainer for Animal Behavior College, and a volunteer Dog Trainer for the Animal Care Centers of New York. I offer customized dog training and behavior management primarily using reward-based, force-free methods in the comfort of your own home or through remote learning (video

The goal is for YOU to learn what training is all about so that (after you work with me) you would be able to train other dogs you may have in the future without necessarily having to hire another dog trainer. Although training sessions are usually held about 1-2 weeks apart, once you sign up, you may contact me 24/7 for questions or concerns that simply cannot wait till our next session. That's certainly one thing that sets me apart from other trainers.
***Beginning 2023, I will no longer be taking on clients whose primary concern is separation anxiety***

I'm helping my client find a new home for their dog, Dash.
FROM HIS FAMILY
Dash is a chocolate Lab, nearly five years old, 72lbs, fully vaccinated, neutered and healthy, with an ID chip.
He is a good dog that we love.
He is smart, strong, fast, mischievous, and always hungry - a normal Lab!
We previously owned a black Lab for many years and Dash joined our family as a puppy before we had any grandchildren.
Dash is usually crated for sleeping and family meals, and well behaved for his morning and dinner meals; he sits and waits impatiently for the "eat" command.
He really enjoys his leashed walks and playing fetch especially in water; enjoys car rides for errands and is well behaved for long car trips.
Very well behaved with known known adults and so far with our 5 grandchildren under 3yrs old.
Usually protective when meeting/approached by new people and often barks at pedestrians when in car.
Dash is food motivated, loves treats and believes all food left in reach is his....he has trained us to keep food off counters and out of his range.
Following a recent food guarding/biting incident, we have determined Dash is not a good fit with our young grandchildren.
We love Dash and want to re-home him.
FROM ME AS THE DOG TRAINER
Dash lives with a couple in their 70s. I'd always felt that he's too energetic and large for them.
He's been great with their grandkids, but they always said that should he ever not be good with the grandkids, then Dash has to go.
The bite incident was NOT with one of the grandkids. It was with the wife. He threw up, she went to clean it up, he bit her.
They called me about a week after the incident, two days before they were scheduled to put him down.
Dash is a great dog, just not a perfect one.
I'm determined to find him a new home, one where his energy can be matched, and one where there is a clear understanding that Dash not only needs consistency with his training but also one where there is a clear understanding on "management."
I'm looking for a home where there are no young children or elderly, ideally where there is space for him to run, perhaps a single person (or a couple) looking for a constant companion, with time to train him.
Dash is pretty much done with basic obedience training BUT time and distance permitting, I would like to work with the new owner/s for a few sessions - for free.
If you are interested, please contact me - Karin 917-353-3135. Thank you!
