𝗗𝗼𝗴 𝗦𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘆: 𝗗𝗶𝗱 𝗡𝗶𝗻𝗼𝘆 𝗔𝗾𝘂𝗶𝗻𝗼 𝗛𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝗮 𝗖𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗱𝗵𝗼𝗼𝗱 𝗗𝗼𝗴 𝗡𝗮𝗺𝗲𝗱 “𝗥𝗶𝗻-𝗧𝗶𝗻-𝗧𝗶𝗻”?
Not many know this little piece of history: As a boy in Tarlac, Ninoy Aquino once had a beloved dog he fondly named 𝙍𝙞𝙣-𝙏𝙞𝙣-𝙏𝙞𝙣. Sadly, the dog was struck by a car—leaving young Ninoy deeply heartbroken.
What made this moment unforgettable was how the young Ninoy organized a funeral for his pet, joined by his playmates. According to biographers Jose Y. Dalisay Jr. and Arnold Azurin in Six Modern Filipino Heroes (1993), this simple childhood act already showed his extroverted precocity and his natural ability to lead and gather people even at such a young age.
Today, as we approach the commemoration of Ninoy Aquino’s life and legacy this August 21 (Ninoy Aquino Day), we are reminded that even the smallest childhood stories can reflect the character of a man who would later become a symbol of democracy and sacrifice. 🙏
