“If only they could talk, they would’ve asked you a long time ago,
‘Do you still love me now that I’m old? Or did you only love me when I was just a puppy?’ 🐾”
Do you know how long time feels for a dog?
1 of your years = 7 of his.
1 of your months = 7 of his.
1 of your days = 1 of his weeks.
And just 1 hour of yours = 7 hours of him waiting.
When you go out for just 10 minutes, for him, it feels like you’ve been gone for over an hour.
So when you ignore him the whole day, to him, it’s like you’ve left him for a week.
He waits in silence,
just staring at the door,
hoping you’ll come back soon and notice him, even for a moment.
Do you know why he paces in the corner when he’s hungry?
It’s not for attention—he’s too shy to bother you.
Even with his stomach growling, he’d rather stay quiet
than be scolded.
Why is he silent when you hit him?
It’s not because it doesn’t hurt,
but because he’s afraid worse might come next.
Why does he still follow you even when his paw hurts?
Because that might be his last chance to be by your side.
And why, even when you’re angry, is he the first one to approach you?
Because even though you hurt him,
you’re still the one he wants to forgive.
Every day, he lives in fear that you might not come back when you leave.
But he never gives up,
never walks away,
never holds a grudge.
They don’t know how to speak, but inside, they scream every single day.
They stay quiet, but every glance is full of unspoken questions—
“What did I do wrong to deserve being hurt?”
They feel pain,
but they have no voice,
no way to fight back.
No voice.
No defense.
So the kind of person who can hurt an animal is the biggest coward of all.
Why did you take them in if you couldn’t love them?
What’s the point of the leash if you’re only going to chain them to sadness?
What’s the use of food, if it always comes with shouting and fear?
And if you were only going to leave them,
why did you make them believe someone could love an animal like them?
They don’t ask for much—just a little love.
But often, even that is denied them.
And the most painful part?
No matter how badly you treat them,
they still love you… until the very end.
All they have is a heart that,
even shattered, still loves you.
So before you ignore them, shout at them, hurt them, or abandon them…
remember:
Their breath won’t last forever,
because one year of our life equals seven years of theirs.
