Armadillidium Nasatum Dalmatian
Here are some tips for caring for Armadillidium nasatum, also known as Dalmatian isopods:
Species Info:
These isopods prefer temperate to semi-arid environments with dry, sparsely vegetated habitats. They may have difficulty molting in tropical environments.
Temperature:
Most isopods prefer warmer temperatures, but each species has unique requirements. A temperature range of 72–82°F is generally ideal.
Humidity:
Use a hygrometer to monitor humidity and mist the enclosure as needed.
Food
Isopods need decaying wood and lots of leaves to survive. You can also provide a calcium source, such as cuttlebone, crushed eggshells, or crushed oyster shells. Avoid feeding them fish flakes, rice, cereal, or dog food.
Dalmatian gene
The dalmatian gene is a recessive gene that causes an absence of pigments, allowing color to appear only in spots. Members expressing this trait are born patternless and gain spots as they age.
