THE ANIMAL WELFARE ACT OF 1998 AS AMENDED
(RA 8485 as amended by RA 10631)

SECTION 7. It shall be unlawful for any person who has
custody to an animal to abandon the animal.
If any person being the owner or having charge or control
of any animal shall without reasonable cause or excuse
abandon it, whether permanently or not, without providing for
the care of that animal, such act shall constitute maltreatment
under Section 9.
If the animal is left in circumstances likely to cause the
animal any unnecessary suffering, or if this abandonment
results in the death of the animal, the person liable shall suffer
the maximum penalty.
Abandonment means the relinquishment of all right, title,
claim, or possession of the animal with the intention of not
reclaiming its ownership or possession.

A stray cat often visited Providence Veterinary Clinic, hoping for leftover food from Batcat and the other clinic cats. Over time, she became accustomed to the clinic staff, who were eventually able to catch her. She was monitored overnight to ensure she was healthy enough for surgery. The following day, the staff spotted two kittens outside the clinic with similar head markings. They were brought to the cage where the stray cat was housed, and to everyone's surprise, they turned out to be her kittens. The mother cat was named Sisa, while her kittens were named Basilio and Crispin.

To prevent complications in the mammary gland area, a flank spay procedure was performed since the kittens still wanted to nurse, despite there being no milk available. Once Sisa fully recovered, she was returned to her original area. Currently, Sisa occasionally visits the clinic for some cat food.

Community Cat Kapon

Our first batch this year!

A group of cat lovers is feeding a clowder of community cats near their home. With limited budget allotted for the cat food only, they were not able to neuter them. They coordinated with us and we were able to provide free Neuter and Vaccination. The cats are recovering well and they are just waiting for the other kittens to be big enough for a safe kapon.
