Pet Health Tip: Sudden Behavior Change Is a Red Flag

Pets can’t tell us when something feels wrong, so changes in their behavior can sometimes be an important warning sign.

A pet that suddenly becomes unusually quiet, aggressive, withdrawn, clingy, restless, or stops doing things they normally enjoy may be experiencing pain, illness, stress, or another underlying problem.

Watch for sudden changes such as:
✔ Loss of appetite or refusing food
✔ Hiding or becoming unusually withdrawn
✔ Sudden aggression or irritability
✔ Excessive vocalization or restlessness
✔ Sleeping much more or less than usual
✔ Changes in drinking or urination
✔ Loss of interest in play or normal activities
✔ Unusual licking, scratching, or sensitivity

💡 Know your pet's normal behavior. You know your pet best, so even a subtle change can be worth paying attention to.

If a behavior change is sudden, persistent, severe, or accompanied by other symptoms, don't ignore it. A veterinary check-up can help determine what's causing the change.

🐶🐱 Sometimes, a change in behavior is your pet's way of saying, “Something doesn't feel right.”

UROLITHIASIS (BLADDER STONES) AWARENESS | DOGS & CATS

Urolithiasis is the formation of stones (uroliths) in the urinary bladder. These stones can irritate the urinary tract, cause pain, and may lead to a life-threatening blockage if left untreated.

🐾 Signs to Watch For:
• Frequent urination
• Straining or difficulty urinating
• Blood in the urine
• Pain or crying while urinating
• Passing small amounts of urine
• Excessive licking of the ge***al area
• Inability to urinate (EMERGENCY)

⚠️ Why It Matters:
Bladder stones can damage the urinary tract and may completely block urine flow, especially in male pets. A urinary blockage is a medical emergency requiring immediate veterinary care.

💡 Prevention Tips:
• Always provide fresh, clean drinking water
• Encourage regular urination
• Feed a veterinarian-recommended diet
• Schedule routine veterinary check-ups
• Seek veterinary attention at the first sign of urinary problems

📍 Early detection and treatment can help prevent serious complications and improve your pet's quality of life.

Did You Know? Cats Have 32 Muscles in Each Ear

Cats have an amazing sense of hearing, thanks in part to the 32 muscles in each ear. These muscles allow their ears to rotate up to 180 degrees, helping them detect and pinpoint sounds with incredible accuracy.

Unlike humans, who can barely move their ears, cats can independently swivel each ear to listen in different directions at the same time.

Why cats' ears are so amazing:
✔ Each ear has 32 muscles for precise movement
✔ Ears can rotate up to 180°
✔ Each ear moves independently
✔ Helps locate the exact source of a sound

Why this is important:
✔ Detects prey hiding in grass or bushes
✔ Improves awareness of their surroundings
✔ Helps communicate mood and emotions through ear position
✔ Enhances balance and coordination during movement

Fun Fact:
🐾 A cat can often hear higher-frequency sounds than humans and even many dogs, making them exceptional hunters and highly alert companions.
