⚠️ GASTROENTERITIS AWARENESS FOR DOGS & CATS ⚠️

Gastroenteritis is the inflammation of the stomach and intestines that can affect both dogs and cats. It may be caused by infections, spoiled food, parasites, sudden diet changes, or toxins.

🐾 Signs to Watch For:
• Vomiting
• Diarrhea
• Loss of appetite
• Lethargy or weakness
• Abdominal pain
• Dehydration

⚠️ Why It’s Serious:
Severe vomiting and diarrhea can quickly lead to dehydration, especially in puppies, kittens, and senior pets.

💡 What You Can Do:
• Avoid feeding spoiled or fatty food
• Provide clean drinking water
• Keep toxic substances away
• Seek veterinary care if symptoms persist

🌊🐱 Did You Know? Cats Can Drink Seawater — In Theory

Cats have highly efficient kidneys compared to many other animals, which means they can tolerate salt better than humans. In survival situations, cats are technically able to process small amounts of seawater.

However, that doesn’t mean seawater is safe for regular drinking. Too much salt can quickly lead to dehydration, vomiting, kidney strain, and salt toxicity.

Important facts:
✔ Cats evolved from desert-dwelling ancestors
✔ Their kidneys can concentrate urine very efficiently
✔ Seawater still contains dangerous levels of salt
✔ Fresh, clean water is always the safest choice

Signs of salt toxicity in pets:
✔ Excessive thirst
✔ Vomiting or diarrhea
✔ Lethargy
✔ Tremors or seizures in severe cases

So while cats may survive tiny amounts of seawater in theory, they should always have access to clean drinking water instead.

Breed Spotlight: Arabian Mau Cat

Strong, intelligent, and naturally adapted to desert life — the Arabian Mau is a graceful and athletic breed known for its resilience and affectionate personality.

Origin:
The Arabian Mau originated from the Arabian Peninsula, particularly in countries such as the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and Oman. It developed naturally in hot desert climates and is considered a true landrace breed.

Appearance & Coat:
Arabian Maus have a short, sleek coat with little undercoat, helping them tolerate warm temperatures. They have long legs, a muscular build, and large ears that give them an alert expression. Coat colors include white, black, red, tabby, and bicolor patterns.

Size:
They are medium-sized cats, usually weighing around 4–7 kg (8–15 lbs) with a lean and athletic body.

Personality & Temperament:
Arabian Maus are active, intelligent, and very social. They enjoy climbing, playing, and interacting with people. While independent at times, they are affectionate with their families and often form strong bonds with their owners.

Lifespan:
With proper care, Arabian Maus commonly live around 12–15 years.

Health Notes:
Because they are a naturally developed breed, Arabian Maus are generally healthy and hardy with few known genetic issues. Regular vaccinations, parasite prevention, dental care, and proper nutrition are still essential for long-term health.
