I saw a post in a local cat group about a cat currently being soaked in the rain, in the middle of a very busy road, posted about two hours before I saw it. Since we were going to pass by the area anyway, my partner and I started talking about it inside the car. Wondering if the cat was still there, if someone had already rescued her, how heavy the rain is, whether we should stop the driver and get out of the vehicle, how we would even get her, and so on. In the end, we decided to get out and buy a cage if she was still there.

And when we got out, there she was. We spotted her right away. Same spot, same position. She looked like she had already given up on life. She had been out in the pouring rain for more than two hours. God knows how long. Thankfully, someone saw her and cared enough to stop, take a picture and post her on the group.

We immediately bought a cage while one of us stayed behind to keep an eye on her. Once we had the cage, the next challenge was figuring out how to get her inside. She was hissing, defensive, and refused the food we offered. She was clearly extremely distressed.

After a few gentle pets and showing her that we weren’t going to hurt her, I was finally able to hold her by the scruff and quickly got her into the cage. Got you, Mingming! 🥹❤️

We took her straight to the vet and had all the necessary tests done. We also gave her a name: ✨Macy✨. She was dehydrated and malnourished, with a severe infection and low platelet count. She tested positive for both FIV and FeLV. She’s also pregnant with three kittens. Her blood chemistry suggests that she’s FIP positive.

Macy has so many issues. But that’s okay. What’s important is that she’s safe now. Her recovery will be long but we’re hopeful.

We're home to 100 rescues and feeding them daily is no easy feat!

Having the new catio greatly helps as most cats have now learned that it's where they will eat. However, around 30 cats still get fed on the old catio and on the porch. Twenty dogs in our living room and four dogs in our neighbor's empty house.

And what comes after? A lot of dishes to wash! 😄
