At Doc Bayani’s Animal Wellness Clinic, our journey into advanced veterinary cardiology has been years in the making.

It began in 2022, when we took a decisive step forward by hosting our first in-house cardiology lecture and workshop under Dr. Karlo Gicana. From that point on, Doc Jun took a deep and focused interest in diagnosing and managing heart conditions in pets.

His commitment only grew stronger:
• In 2024, he was selected as a participant in the pioneering Cardiology Training for Philippine Veterinarians at Chulalongkorn University in Bangkok
• He recently completed the first Master Systemic Course for Cardiology in Manila
• And most notably, he served as a speaker in this month’s nationwide webinar, Advancing Cardiac Competence, alongside some of the country’s leading veterinary cardiologists 👏👏👏

We’re incredibly proud of our Co-Head Veterinary Technologist, Jam Casas 🐾

Jam recently attended the very first Asian Veterinary Nursing Conference in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia — an important milestone not just for her, but for veterinary nursing in our region.

She participated in the main conference and also completed a pre-conference workshop on Practical Bandaging for Dogs and Cats, further enhancing her skills in patient care.

This trip was even more special as it was her very first time traveling abroad — and she made the most of it by exploring Kuala Lumpur as well ✈️

Opportunities like this reflect our commitment to continuous learning and growth, ensuring that our patients receive the best care possible.

3 of our vets are proud CMU-CVM graduates, and we’ve mentored many of their senior clinicians over the years, who went on to become our colleagues in the Philippine veterinary industry. We’re glad to further strengthen the ties between DBAWC and CMU 😊

The Central Mindanao University College of Veterinary Medicine extends its sincere appreciation to Dr. Bayani Vandenbroeck of Doc Bayani’s Animal Wellness Clinic for the generous donation of an ultrasound unit to the college. Aphrodite almost lost her ability to walk.

On January 23, this happy 4-year-old Samoyed was hit by a car after chasing a cat onto the street. The driver didn’t stop.

She was rushed to us unable to bear weight on her right hind leg.
X-rays confirmed a comminuted fractured femur.

We performed orthopedic surgery using:
🔹 Intramedullary pin
🔹 Cerclage wire
🔹 Bone plates and screws

But surgery is only half the battle.

For two weeks, Aphrodite underwent intensive rehabilitation therapy at our clinic:
✨ Laser therapy
✨ PEMF therapy
✨ TENS
✨ Various strengthening and mobility exercises

Rehabilitation prevents muscle atrophy, reduces pain, and restores proper limb function after orthopedic repair.

Today — one month later — she’s walking, smiling, and almost back to her normal lively self.

A total of 30 captive-bred and rescued Philippine Eagles from the Philippine Eagle Center and the National Bird Breeding Sanctuary underwent their Annual Comprehensive Physical Check-up.

The veterinary team performed thorough hands-on examinations—assessing vital signs, body condition, feather quality, and overall health status. This scheduled annual procedure complements the eagles’ regular daily monitoring and ongoing veterinary care, allowing for an in-depth, full physical assessment under controlled conditions.

Proactive health management is a cornerstone of conservation. Through continuous monitoring and annual in-depth assessments, we help ensure that each eagle remains strong, healthy, and ready to thrive.

We extend our sincere gratitude to the team from Dr. Bayani Animal Wellness Clinic, our colleagues from the City Environment and Natural Resources Office of Mati City for their invaluable support, and the Regional Animal Disease Diagnostic Laboratory (RADDL)-Bureau of Animal Industry-DA, for conducting disease screening laboratory tests across the years. This past week marked the halfway point of our veterinary dental specialty course, with the 3rd module focusing on endodontics! 🦷🦷🦷

We were warned that this would be the most difficult module yet, and boy it was! From endodontic access, to instrumentation techniques, to obturation, our hands were quite sore at the end of the 3 days. Grateful to Dr. James Anthony and our Batch 1 mentors for the knowledge and guidance 🙏

Before, veterinary dentistry in our clinics was often about just dental prophylaxis and extracting bad teeth. Glad to now be able to offer better dental services to our patients, by doing better assessments and interventions aimed at actually trying to save the teeth! 😄
