🇵🇭 Philippine Oil Consumption: Quick Reality Check
• Diesel: 42% – trucks, buses, jeepneys, delivery, heavy equipment
• Gasoline: 20% – cars, motorcycles, daily commute
• LPG: 13% – household cooking, restaurants
• Kerosene/Jet fuel: 11% – lamps, stoves, airplanes
• Fuel oil: 10% – ships, power plants
• Others: 1% – lubricants, bitumen, etc.

💡 Takeaway: Almost half of the oil in the Philippines is diesel, so when oil prices rise → food and transport costs rise too.

Reality check: Oil prices don’t just affect fuel—they impact everything on your table. 🍚🥩

PEAK SEASON GUIDE: Understanding Van Rental Costs (2-Minute Read)

Peak season is here, so let’s keep things clear and practical. Here’s how van rental pricing really works.

1. Van Rental Fee

₱5,000–₱7,000 per day, depending on the distance and destination.

This already covers:
• A well-maintained vehicle
• Insurance
• Franchise and legal compliance
• Required permits and inspections
• Driver trainings and certifications

Most professional rentals are with driver included. It’s safer, protects the vehicle, and avoids liability issues. Vans handle very differently from regular cars, especially when fully loaded.

2. Fuel Cost — You Can Estimate This Yourself

Fuel is separate from the base rental, and honestly, you can forecast this on your own.

Just open Google Maps:
1. Enter your destination.
2. Add all pick-ups, stopovers, and side trips.
3. Check the total distance (round trip).

That total distance is your starting point.

For vans, a realistic average is 6–8 km per liter — especially when fully loaded.

Keep in mind, fuel consumption increases with:
• Heavy traffic
• More stops
• Long idle or waiting time
• Full passenger capacity luggage
• Uphill or mountain routes

For example, a Manila to Baguio trip with 10 passengers and around 2 hours total idle time will consume more fuel than a light, pure highway run. Mountain climbs and traffic alone can lower your km/L average.

If you compute using 6–8 km/L and factor in your actual route conditions, you’ll have a very realistic fuel estimate before even asking for a quote.

3. Toll Fees

Check which expressways you’ll pass through and compute:
• Entry and exit tolls
• Round-trip charges
• Extra tolls for side trips

Toll fees are separate and should always be included in your total budget.

4. Driver Fee

Professional driver rate:
₱1,000–₱1,500 per day

If total driving or waiting time goes beyond 8 hours, overtime pay may apply — especially for long-distance trips or heavy traffic days.

For overnight trips, renters are responsible for:
• Driver meals
• Proper sleeping accommodation

A well-rested and fairly compensated driver means a safer trip for everyone.

Final Note

Van rental pricing isn’t random. It reflects real operating costs:
• Legal compliance
• Safety standards
• Fuel and toll expenses
• Professional driver services
• Proper vehicle maintenance

When you understand these parts, pricing makes sense — and you can plan your budget confidently.
