I just recieve this note from Timber's dad, David. Timber was from the I litter. So many Sprite puppies are nearing the end of their journey here with us - much to contemplate.
Denise,
Good morning and Happy Holidays. I hope this note finds you and your family as hale and hearty.
It has been many years since we last spoke, but I thought you would want to know that Timber (I litter, Oct 5, 2008) was lost to us yesterday. She was a very healthy 12-year-old, but this past March she started having seizures. The assumption was a brain tumor, since she had no history. We kept things under control with Kepra, but last night she had a series of seizures, so we let her go.
She was a beautiful dog, and a tough one, Very strong willed and independent. She hated being managed, making basic husbandry a challenge all of our years together. She was a Houdini in our yard, always looking for ways to exit and explore somewhere else.
One our favorite stories about her was a walk we taking in a local Portland Park, where there were also a lot of street folk. As we walked the path, I noticed a gent get up from his park bench on an intersect course with us. He stopped short, asked what breed Timber was, and then remarked: “Cool ass markings, Dude!”
