Due to personal circumstances and a pressing need to shift my focus and complete my studies, it’s time for me to move on from Brave Paws Cat Rescue. It’s been 19 months’ jam packed with intense highs, lows and everything in between. I’m grateful to have been able to put my deep love for cats into action and have learned a lot!

A big thank you to the special humans I've met a long the way - to those who have offered new beginnings to the 57 cats and kittens that I’ve had a hand in re-homing. And thank you to all of the volunteers who have helped me to enrich the lives of the kitties at HQ. Special mention to Tomo (and Miyuki!) from Happy Cat TREE house for providing the cats with their epic indoor Cat Castle and new Catio! ** please do support Tomo and contact him for all your feline furniture needs!

!!!WOW!!! Can you imagine our delight - arriving at the cattery and seeing that the cat's earth angel, Tomo from Happy Cat TREE house had stopped by to install this magnificent catio!? 🙀😻🙀😻🙀🙀🙀

Is this not the most incredibly clever and creative use of space you have ever seen!? SO many platforms, mezzanines, sun decks and tunnels, they will truly feel they are in a tree house! No-one understands cats like Tomo.

NIGEL - Male - Approx 7 months - Ready NOW
Fostered in Whenuapai, Auckland.

It’s hard to know where to start with Nigel. SO much delicious, darling personality all packed into one little puss. Cheeky, charming, clever, considered, curious, cuddly. He has the deepest, throatiest, divine purr you ever did hear! Since being a tiny 3 week old scrap of fluff Nigel has had a homing device for ‘the lap’ - it’s all he wanted as a tiny tot. Now, around 7 months, he still thankfully LOVES a good snuggle in your lap and enjoys being picked up when in a chilled mood. He is very enthusiastic and interactive and shows his love by giving you little love bites (they are more nibbles!). Nigel’s other great fixation is food, he just LOVES eating! haha
You may notice Nigel is missing an eye (it makes his gorgeous remaining amber coloured eye even more special). A nasty flu sadly meant an extraction was needed. He is a healthy, brave and resilient little lad now; managing extremely well with one eye. We are looking for a home that is well away from the road, down a long drive, rural or even a catio. Where Nigel is still getting used to his one eye, he can be easily startled (momentarily) and we think he’d prefer home without noisy, erratic young kids. He’s a very good boy with other cats and would be fine with another kind, gentle cat. He also gets on well with his foster's small dog. However, to be honest he’s a ‘people’ cat and is way more interested in you and what you are up to! This little dude is special, only awesome people need apply....
Up to date with flea and worm treatments.
Adoption fee $200 or $350 if adopted with another cat or kitten
Please note we do not operate on a first come first served basis and will wait to find the right forever home for each cat or kitten. Please also note, we only home cats and kittens in the Auckland area, to avoid stressful long distance travel.

UPDATE 25/6/25 - BEAUTIFUL NAIMAH STILL SEARCHING FOR A HOME - PLEASE SHARE!!

OK team - can we find QUEEN NAIMAH a home on KING'S BIRTHDAY please?!

It is an absolute mystery to us that this beauty hasn't found a home yet!? We can only assume she's been waiting for a royal occasion?!

If you've been wanting an elegant, boss babe to waltz into your life, look no further. Naimah has a magnetic and enchanting presence that commands respect. Confident around her servants, she very much enjoys pats and shows of adoration. Naimah isn't a needy cat but is partial to a good zoomies and would thrive in a home where you could flick the odd toy around for her to chase. Otherwise you can find her watching the world go by and sun bathing at the window. We would love for her to experience real sunshine and fresh air so eventual indoor/outdoor flow once settled is essential.

Naimah has been fostered around many other cats since being brought in as a kitten from South Auckland. Whilst she is generally a laid back kind of gal, she won't think twice about putting another cat in it's place. So for the sake of other cats (and any unsuspecting dogs), she'd be best in a kingdom of her own and at 4 years old, she really deserves all that special one on one attention.

Desexed, microchipped, up to date with flea and worm treatment - recently vet checked.

We prefer for cats to be homed in the Auckland area only.

Kitty Kin.. come now.. enough is enough!

We still have so many BEAUTIFUL, FRIENDLY, ADOPTABLE adult cats ready to 'go home'! Some have been at the cattery their whole lives (years) 🥺🥺 while others knew families and freedom before the intervention of rescue. They are all equally as deserving of something better! They've seen yet another wave of 'cuter & smaller' kittens come through the cattery... and all go before them. IT'S THEIR TURN! 😻🙏✨✨

OK, form an orderly queue.. we have everything from chonky, ginger units, neurodiverse tuxys, one eyed teens, comedic brothers, tripod treasures.... to name a few.

Seriously.. these beautiful adults are between 3-7 years. They have been at the cattery their whole lives. They NEED to know a different life exists - they need grass under their paws and fresh air, a sunny spot they don't have to fight for, to sleep on a bed, to be chosen and cherished!

All fostered at the cattery in Birkenhead - all go home vet checked and restored to factory settings (as best as we can!), all are desexed and microchipped.

Brave Paws North Shore

Brave Paws Animal Rescue is a local non-profit organisation working on Auckland’s North Shore. We are dedicated to rescuing homeless and abandoned cats and kittens. We foster these felines in their own homes until they find permanent loving homes of their own. Consider adopting one of more of our rescued felines, or help us by becoming a volunteer! We are helping to care for the cats in the Northcote/Birkenhead area.
