🚨We have a sweet kitten and cat suffering from gingivitis/stomatitis, which means inflammation of the gums, which is incredibly painful. If medication and pain relief doesnt help they could looking at full mouth extraction!

‼️Bruno is 5 months old and is so adorable, he is teething and his gums are very inflammed. He is currently on steroids and pain relief in hopes his mouth improves. Prior to his gum issues, he had a stubborn flu that took 4 weeks to get over so additional medication was needed.

Vibravet, Famicolvr and flu max costing $12.80 a day which came too $358.40 total!
With medications to date he cost $155.27 plus steroids cost sois total medical costs Bruno $513.67 ‼️

Ollie has been with us a while and we have tried 4 times with antibiotics and pain relief but this has not worked. He went back to the vet yesterday, and his gums are also raging red with inflammation.

We firstly did FIV test (common with + cats) and bloods to rule any other illnesses - all clear. He is booked in Tuesday for Full mouth extract (FME)
The costs are piling up 😞

Ollie yesterday costs $384 and his dental surgery will be about $1400

Become a CAT FOSTER! This is purrfect if you’re thinking of adopting a cat but not sure yet, looking for company while you work from home, or a long time cat lover looking to help out cat rescues.

As a cat foster, you’ll help care for cats and show them love to turn them from street cat to lap cat.

We’ll provide:
✅ food and litter (including bowls and litter tray)
✅ some cat accessories like toys, crate, etc.
✅ support from our cat expert volunteers

All you need is:
⏰ time, patience, care and love to give to the cat
😻 permission from homeowner/landlord if renting
🚗 own transport to take cat to vet visits as needed (our vets are located in Lynfield, Henderson, Glen Eden, Papakura, Silverdale)

🚨Are you one of the owners who booked our desexing service, only to NOT show up? 🚨

‼️Not only are you risking your cat’s health and wellbeing for years to come, but you’re risking making the existing stray problem so much worse. Did you know that the council still euthanises cats found to be entire with no microchip?‼️

🙀We fight tooth and nail daily for the benefit of cats across Auckland. Many of our volunteers and our owner live with chronic pain, and STILL our fosters and the well being of cats comes first to us.

😿The sad truth, is many who have requested this service have not followed through.
By not showing up to your desexing appointments, you are risking more unwanted kittens and contributing to the already critical cat crisis we are facing. Not to mention, also wasting the vet clinics valuable time involved and our limited rescue resources.

😓 Due to multiple no shows, the vet clinic services who have GENEROUSLY AGREED to help our rescue and the public, could be cancelled. The flow on effect would be decreased funding, and less clinics open to working with us. This will affect other owners cats who had booked our generous discounted desexing service, and risks further contributing to the dire stray situation in our city.

This CANNOT happen anymore. We value our vet clinics and their generous support to our cause and we run the risk of losing their support in this with no shows.

Another rescue with vet bill totalling over $3600…

These kitties were rescued from Mt Roskill site -

🐾 Ponyo developed severe pneumonia & lung scaring that was only discovered after desexing.

She required intensive treatment just to get to a healthy state, including incubator and oxygen but will be immune compromised for the rest of their life.

🐾 Thomas & Percy were also discovered to have lung scaring through X-rays and required medication.

🐾 Shadow, the auntie of the kittens, had severe stomatitis. We tried medication to see if it would improve and in the end she had a large majority of her teeth removed.

Rescue work is never easy, and right now, we need your help with our vet bills after some recent rescues.

A rescue at a Wiri site has been heartbreaking and overwhelming. Several cats had serious health issues:

🐾 Simba and Sarafi are recovering from pneumonia and lung scarring — and now they’re also battling ringworm.

🐾 Simba is also limping and awaiting a vet appointment.

🐾 Gracie and Tuxey also have ringworm from the Wiri site.

🐾 Kiara is suffering from a severe case of calicivirus.

💔 And tragically, some cats were too sick to save and had to be humanely put to sleep.

These sweet souls didn’t ask for this life, but they deserve a second chance. We’re doing everything we can to give them that… but the vet bills are stacking up fast.

Meet Jerry – The Ultimate Cuddle Bug Looking for His Forever Home ??

Jerry is one of the friendliest male cats you'll ever meet. Rescued from one of our Wiri colony sites, it quickly became clear that he had been dumped—his super friendly nature just isn’t typical of a stray. Jerry absolutely adores cuddles, pets, and all the love you can give him.

He’s a total smooch, always ready to snuggle and soak up affection. Jerry is searching for someone special to give him the love and care he deserves for the rest of his life. Though we don’t know much about his background, his story says it all—he’s a sweet, gentle soul who just wants a safe, loving home.

From what we’ve seen, Jerry may get along well with other cats, but a calm, loving environment is best. If you’re interested in meeting Jerry and giving him the home he’s been waiting for, he’s currently located in New Lynn.

He is desexed, microchipped, fully vaccinated and litter trained.

INDOOR ONLY HOME FOR SWEET AUTUMN

Meet Autumn – A Beautiful Girl Looking for a Calm, Loving Home ??

Autumn is a gorgeous fluffy girl who has had a bit of a tough journey. While in our care, she suffered a fall that caused a head injury. After thorough vet consultations, we’re relieved to know it’s not a neurological condition, but Autumn will need to be indoor only for her safety and wellbeing.

Because of her condition Autumn has the wobbles. This does not slow her down though. She loves to climb and play with toys. Autumn is cheeky! She will stare at you longingly then dodge you once you get close. Once she trusts you she likes pats but seems to feel uneasy when picked up. Despite this, she’s a sweet and affectionate cat who absolutely adores her friends Teddy and Bear, two other kittens in our care.

Autumn seems like she could be good with other cats. While all her siblings have found homes, Autumn is still waiting for the perfect forever family to provide the care and love she deserves.

Autumn is currently located in New Lynn and is patiently hoping for someone special to open their heart and home to her.

Kiara is a beautiful little tabby who was rescued from a concerning situation on a site in Wiri. We believe she was sadly dumped there.Though she’s a bit shy at first, Kiara is incredibly sweet and gentle once she warms up.

She’s used to living with other kittens and cats, so she’d likely be happy in a home with feline company. We’re not sure how she feels about dogs or children yet, so a calm environment without too much bustle would be ideal as she adjusts.

Kiara’s a little shy at first, so a patient and loving adopter who can give her time to settle will be perfect for her. Once she feels safe and comfortable, she absolutely loves cuddles and will show you her affectionate side. She is a funny little girl that loves to see what you're doing and likes to "help" when you're cleaning up. (She will gladly empty your dustpan so you have to start again.)

Kiara is currently located in New Lynn and is waiting for someone special to help her feel right at home.

Super Sweet Sonny

Sonny is Dot’s adorable son, and just like his mum, he was sadly dumped at an Animates store. But despite that rough start, Sonny has blossomed into the most loving and playful little guy.

Sunny is very affectionate and absolutely loves cuddles. He’s also playful, curious, and full of personality.

Sonny seems like he’d do really well in a family environment, especially one where he’ll get lots of attention and affection. He hasn’t been tested with dogs yet, but his confident nature means he may adapt well with proper introductions.

If you're looking for a sweet, people - loving older kitten who’ll bring energy and affection into your home, Sonny could be the perfect fit.

Rescue Rehabilitate and Re-home

Rescue, health care, neutering and re-homing are all essential parts of what we do to improve the quality of life for stray cats in the Auckland region. Achieving this accounts for the majority of our current expenses.

We are working to reduce the numbers of stray animals in our community and helping every animal rescued to find their forever home where they can feel safe and loved.

Also we do cat rescue (using humane trap) in Auckland and offer TNR (trap, neuter, return) programme when the cat is being cared for by the public.

Our focus is saving one animal at a time

Cat Welfare Education

Children and young people will be the cat owners of the future and only by building their understanding and knowledge of cat welfare can we make the world a better place for cats. We plan to offer the appropriate information/guidance to ensure that cats thrive the Auckland community.

Team

The team at Pet Whisperer Rescue are experienced and dedicated animal rescuers, foster carers and volunteers who have worked for many years in the industry all over the Auckland area. We are also experienced in critical care management and treatment. Our top priority is to rescue, rehabilitate and re-home kittens/cats and other small domestic animals.

Our Story this year 8.6.19

This kitten season has seen some deadly virus outbreaks which has caused so much heartache to many rescues losing kittens to viruses such as Panleukopenia (similar to dog parvo) and without early treatment many unfortunately die. :( Unless experienced like we are after rescuing four litters in knowing what the symptoms are, many people will not know the warning signs and these innocent kittens die of a painful death.

The season has been heartbreaking for us at Pet Whisperer Rescue and also another litter consuming toxic food or water before they were rescued. Due to these horrendous illnesses we have lost 11 wee souls this year and for the team its a truly heartbreaking time.

The costs in saving these kittens is very large, even though we are a small charity our vet bill is usually $2000 or more a month currently without any sponsorship funding or grants.

This the nightmare has resurfaced with the new litter we rescued last weekend... The previous outbreak left me with a smell trigger so with diarrhoea and vomitting and the certain smell I dread, I rushed to the vet to get confirmation this beautiful litter is also positive for this deadly virus :( The clock is now on to save them from horrible death so they can live out a healthy long life These 5 kittens need a daily fluids, life saving medications, special food, heat pads and even wee coats to help keep their temperature up while in foster care.

So we are in desperate need of donations to help pay these bills..
