🐾 Welcome Animal Lovers to Kritter Sitter Oamaru 🐾

As many in our community already know, the closure of Ritz on Reservoir has been incredibly sad news for so many families and pet owners. They created a trusted and well-loved space for pets and since closing I have had many people asking how Kritter Sitter works, so I thought I would share a little explanation:

I provide personalised pet care through pop-in home visits, with a focus on keeping pets comfortable, settled, and cared for in their own familiar environment. I understand that every animal has different needs, routines, and personalities, so I aim to provide care that is tailored to each individual pet.

My services include:
•🍽💧 Food/water
• 👣Walks and exercise
• 💊Medication administration, if required.
• 🚽 Toilet breaks and companionship
•📸 Updates and photos while you are away for peace of mind

🐓🐖I also care for farm animals and lifestyle block animals with confidence in break fencing, horse care and feed management🐴🐮🐑

❌Please note: Kritter Sitter DOES NOT provide overnight stays or boarding services. I specialise in scheduled pop-in visits only.

📍I am based in Oamaru, however I can extend my services beyond the Oamaru town boundary for an additional travel charge depending on location.

💰 As of May 2026, My standard pricing starts at $30 per half hour visit with a complimentary Meet and Greet prior to bookings.

I know leaving your pets with someone else can feel daunting, especially during times of change, so I work hard to make the process as easy and reassuring as possible. At the Meet & Greet, we can chat about your pet’s needs, routines, and temperament to ensure I am the right fit for your family.

I would also like to extend my thoughts to the team at Ritz on Reservoir and to all the families affected by their closure. It is never easy to see a much-loved local business close its doors.

🐾 A Little Bit About Me 🐾

Hi, I’m Kirsty! The face behind Kritter Sitter Oamaru since 2022! 👋🏻

I have been an Oamaru local for the past 15 years and absolutely love being part of this community. I have an incredibly supportive partner, two beautiful daughters aged 7 and nearly 5, and a lifelong passion for animals.

I am a veterinary nurse with experience caring for a wide range of animals. Alongside Kritter Sitter, I do a bit of dairy farming (did full time dairy prior to vet nursing and children) and run a sheep farm with my partner where we also rear calves and orphan lambs. Caring for animals of all shapes and sizes has always been a huge part of my life.

Whether it’s furry babies, lifestyle block animals or production animals, I understand how important it is to know they are safe, comfortable, and well cared for while you are away 🐾

A little holiday photo dump from our Adelaide adventures 🐾☀️

After a busy few years of caring for everyone else’s beloved pets, it was so nice to slow down, reconnect with my partner and best friends, and make some special memories together.

We explored Adelaide zoo, visited Warrawong animal sanctuary, cruised along the Murray river, did true crime tours and visited the Gaol, soaked up the beach vibes at Glenelg, did many arcade games and even took a spin on the ferris wheel 🎡

We were lucky enough to see monkeys, lions, giraffes, rhinos, dolphins, otters, dingos, pelicans and pandas, while I got to pat a koala, feed kangaroos, and even hold a snake 🦒🦘🐨🐍

Feeling very grateful for the laughs, the sunshine, the animals, the cocktails (🤪🍹🍸🫣), and the chance to come home refreshed and ready for snugs from my children and more Kritter Sitter cuddles 💛

🐾 Gorgeous Kitten Looking for a New Home 🐾

We’re helping find a loving new home for a beautiful wee Tiny Tiger, originally from Blue Cross Vets 🐱

ℹ️ About her:

⏳️ Around 12 weeks old
🩹 Neutered, vaccinated & microchipped
🪱 Up to date with flea & worm treatments
💉 Needs follow-up vaccinations to complete course
💩 Litterbox trained
👪 Used to small dogs and young children
🫶🏼 Super cuddly and affectionate – loves curling up and sleeping right on top of you 💛

She’s an absolute sweetheart and is very much loved, but sadly her current owner is experiencing severe allergies 🤧 Despite having had cats before, this has become a serious health issue, so rehoming her is a very difficult but necessary decision.

She will come with:

🪀 Toys
🍚 Opened 5kg bag of food

We are urgently seeking:
• A permanent home OR
• A short-term foster placement starting ASAP.

📅 From Monday 27th April until Friday 8th May 2026, Kritter Sitter will be taking a short break 🧳

During this time, my phone and emails will be switched off as I take the opportunity to reconnect with my partner and we enjoy some quality time together in beautiful Adelaide ✈️ 🇦🇺

Stepping away from a business that you run on your own isn’t easy, but it is so important to make time for the people who support you every day — I am incredibly grateful for my wonderful Man who keeps everything running smoothly during the busy times 🫶🏼

Thank you for your understanding—I’ll be back refreshed and ready to go soon!

How good to see some sunshine after a bit of needed rain over the last few days 🌞

I have recently noticed A LOT of emails are going to my junk folder which I haven't experienced before so therefore have missed them! If you have emailed in the last couple of weeks and not had a reply, I am incredibly sorry!

And if anyone who has more tech knowledge than me (especially with google/gmail), can maybe suggest why this has happened or if I can fix it, I'd be eternally grateful! 🫶🏼
