Hi Folks, we are sharing this beautiful boy on behalf of caregiver. We do not know Monty so please contact Matt - 02041197448 if you have any questions and please share this handsome fella to help him find a family to love him and give him a place to call home. Cheers ❤️😍
Sweet Mr Monty is looking for a new home!
Unfortunately Monty was unable to move with my parents to their new rental property so is in need of a new home. The shift in circumstances has seen Monty’s anxiety levels shoot up, and he is struggling to settle during the day but after having him for a week now he has shown significant improvements. Aside from this shift Monty shows a willingness to learn new tricks, and has the basics in place (sit, lay down, or on your bed) but does seem to get over stimulated at times, but we have been practicing getting him to sit on his bed/ mat to decompress which seems to be working. He is not good on the lead when you leave the house, this seems to push him over the edge. He barks and pulls, and sniffs and wags his tale, and seems to feel all the emotions at once. I had intended to work with him on his lead training and some basic tactics with place, but my current flatting environment (living with 7 people and a dog) seems to be heightening his overstimulation. He needs more attention and time then I have to give unfortunately so I am hopeful I will find a beautiful human to help nurture his empathetic, kind and caring nature. He truly is a wonderful dog and has the potential to be a great companion for the right person or family.
He has shown no signs of aggression toward any of us here at the flat, even when he clearly shows signs of being afraid, he will let you approach and pat him and he will take any treats offered. I think he would benefit from some more one on one training at his own pace.
Breed: Mixed – lab x Beardie
Age: approx. 4 years old
Size: medium - large
Gender: Male
Neutered: Yes
Vaccinations: will get him up to date
Personality: Monty is a very lovable and affectionate dog who likes to be near people. He is a family dog who still has a great deal of energy to give a new family or person looking for a companion. He is good with kids and lived with 2 cats and another dog, but needs direction when it comes to meeting new dogs outside of his home space. He is easily trained with a treat in hand and loves any stimulation, through games, exercise, or learning new skills.
Health: Monty has shown no signs of medical concern, and vet check-ups seem to say the same thing.
Training: Monty will need further training when it comes to socialisation outside the house and has in the past had some unfortunate experiences so is cautions of new dogs. His recall, and lead training will need some work but he has demonstrated an eagerness to learn and shown huge progress in the week that I have had him.
Compatibility: Monty has had a lot of interaction with kids, other family members dogs and cats. He would suit a family with a yard, kids and a ball or an active individual looking for a companion. His tail is powerful when he is excited so smaller kids may get in the way of this.
History: Monty was neglected by his mum as a pup and forced out of the litter. He has a scar on his rear where his mum bit him.
Adoption Requirements: Monty will need a fenced in yard, daily walks (once comfortable on the lead) and a lovable family environment, or individual.
Monty will come with:
• a bed,
• some toys
• food and water bowls
• lead, collar and harness for pulling.
Adoption Fee: Nil
Thank you for considering opening your heart and home to Monty!
Please feel free to reach out with any questions or to schedule a meet-and-greet.
