🐾 Brushing Your Dog at Home 🐾
Regular brushing isn’t just about keeping your dog looking cute, it’s one of the best things you can do for their comfort and health between grooming visits.
Here’s some tips to keep up with brushing at home:
1️⃣ Use the right tools – A slicker brush for most coats, a metal comb to check for hidden tangles plussmith&burtonn detangling spray to help condition and ease out any knots.
2️⃣ Brush in layers – Lift small sections of fur and brush from the skin outwards, instead of just skimming the top.
3️⃣ Be gentle – Mats can be painful! Hold the hair close to the skin and brush through slowly to avoid pulling.
4️⃣ Check problem areas often– Behind the ears, under the collar, armpits, legs and tail are common mat spots.
5️⃣ Make it positive – Pair brushing with treats, praise, or a chew or Yoggie Pot so it’s a happy experience.
✅ Pro tip: If your brush can’t pass easily through to the skin, or you find tight mats, don’t try to cut them out yourself, bring your dog to us so we can remove them safely.
Regular home brushing + professional grooming = a happy, mat-free pup 🐶
