Is it disbudding day? Make it a smooth moo-ve with these tips:

💚 No feed for 4 hours beforehand (milk, meal, hay) and remove water that morning.
💚 Sick calves can’t be treated – please reschedule if needed.
💚 Keep calves clean and dry before their appointment.
💚 After sedation, calves will snooze for 1-3 hours – so make sure they’ve got shade and shelter from sun or rain.
💚 Meet our techs on-farm to show them where the mob is.

We only disbud under sedation – making it safer and less stressful for your calves. 🐮

Supporting future vets: Anexa scholarship awarded for 2025/26. 🧑‍⚕️👩‍⚕️🎓
Since 1997, we’ve been proud to back future vets with our annual scholarship – and many have gone on to join the Anexa team after graduating.
This year’s applicants blew us away with their passion and professionalism, but after some tough decisions, one stood out.
A huge congratulations to Toby Massam, this year’s well-deserving recipient! Toby recently spent time at our Matamata clinic during calving and companion animal surgeries – and we can’t wait to see where his vet journey takes him next. 🐱🐶🐄

Just a heads-up! 🐾
From now on, if you contact our Gordonton clinic about your dog or cat, we’ll help you book at one of our nearby companion animal clinics: Ngāruawāhia or Morrinsville – whichever suits you best. 🐶🐱
Our Gordonton team isn’t going anywhere! We’re still here, our clinic is open, and we’ll continue helping pets during on-farm visits and at our annual dog vaccination run.

Fresh from being named 2024 Fonterra Dairy Women's Network Woman of the Year, Katrina Roberts participated in the Kellogg Rural Leadership Programme and explored what turns a farmer–vet advisory relationship into a flourishing partnership.

The key findings? Trust, respect, and genuine connection are the game changers. A vet who understands your farm can give advice that’s practical, evidence-based, and works for your business – and in turn, successful relationships keep vets motivated in doing what they love.

In short: strong partnerships mean healthier herds, better production, and wins for both sides.

To help you stay stocked up and ready this spring calving season, our Gordonton and Ngātea clinics are open on Saturday mornings between 19 July – 30 August, 9am – 12pm, so you can grab your calving supplies when you need them. 🐄🐮
🩺Our in-clinic veterinary services won’t be available on Saturdays, but our after-hours service (0800 284 3838) will be operating as normal if you need urgent support.
